Step 1 Warm-up
1. T shows pictures of books and an e-book and asks Ss to answer the questions.
(1) Do you often read books?
(2) How do you read?
2. Free talk
(1) How do you get information?
(2) Reading books?
(3) Or surfing the Internet?
设计意图:通过图片和问题激活学生思维,导入主题,既可以活跃课堂气氛,还调动了学生的积极性。
Step 2 Pre-reading
1. T shows some pictures with the new words, ask the students to read them quickly.
2. Read the new words in groups.
设计意图:通过图片学习单词,形象生动,方便理解记忆,并为下面的内容做准备。
Activity 1
1. Work in pairs. Read the title of the passage in Activity 2.
2. Discuss and make a list of the advantages of books and the Internet.
设计意图:通过看文章标题并讨论纸质书和互联网各自的优势,激活学生已有的知识,学生熟悉本单元的话题。
Step 3 While-reading
Activity 2
1. Ask Ss to read the ideas and tell you what the passage is going to be about.
2. Read the passage and match ideas with the paragraphs.
3. Ask Ss to compare answers with a partner, then check answers as a class.
4. Check the answers together and help Ss to find the useful sentences to get the main idea quickly.

Activity 3
Careful Reading
1. Read and answer the question.
According to the passage, what are the advantages of the Internet over books?
2. Look through the passage again and complete the table.

Fill in the blanks according to the passage in Activity 2.

Step 4 Post-reading
Activity 4
1. Tell Ss to read the words in the box and find them in the passage.
2. Ask them to tell the meaning of the words, using the context to help if necessary.
3. Choose the right words to fill in the blanks.
4. Check answers as a class.
设计意图:通过多种方式训练各种阅读技巧并加深学生对文章的理解。
Activity 5
1. Ask Ss to read the sentences and check understanding. Ask Ss to look at the clauses that come after the expressions in bold. Ask which clauses are about reasons, and which are about results.
2. Read the sentences and notice how we give reasons and results.
Now work in pairs. Ask and answer the questions. Write full sentences with as a result

3. Put Ss in pairs to work together and think of suitable answers to the questions. Tell them to write full sentences.
4. Check answers as a class.

Activity 6
1. Tell Ss to look at the example sentence, then use their notes in Activity 3 to write full sentences.
2. Compare sentences as a class.
Activity 7
Write a passage about traditional printing and its future. Use the sentences you have written in Activity 5 and 6 to help you.
