    Teaching procedure

    1. Warming up

    1) Greetings in everyday English.

    2) Mainly revision of last lesson

    2. New lesson

    Step1 Lead in

    1. The teacher will present some pictures about clocks in order to make Ss learn the simplest way to express time in English correctly. Then ask ss some questions:“Do you eat breakfast today? What do you usually eat for breakfast? ” After  that, teacher will show a saying:  eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar. ask  ss to guess it, But don’t give them the answer until the lesson is ended.

    StepⅡ Presentation

    1. Listen to the audiotape again and let the students read after it and pay attention to the pronunciation.

    2.Group discussion. Find out the knowledge containing the phrases patterns and what they don’t understand, then, the ss representative will give their result, at last, the teacher explain them.

    3Role-play. For example

    A:   What time is it now?               B: It’s seven fifteen.

    A: Time for breakfast!              B: What’s for breakfast, Li Lin?

    A: We have cereal, …….

    4.Exercise. listening to the tape again and fill in the blanks on the screen and answer the questions in“Let’s do it”. Meanwhile, through giving the different meanings of the saying, the differences of eating culture between eastern and western countries will be presented.

    Chinese saying“eat breakfast best, lunch fully, supper least.

    1. Blackboard design and summarize the knowledge what we have learned.

    Step Ⅲ Practice

    1. According to the content, Ss make up a dialogue to express what they would like for breakfast/lunch/supper by using the key sentences in this lesson.

    Step Ⅳ Homework

    Asking your family members what they would like for breakfast/lunch/supper.

    Step2 Listen to the tape with the following questions.

    What do Danny, Jenny and Li Ming want to eat?

    What did Wu Li buy on the train?

    What is a snack?

    Answer the questions with the students and discuss the whole text to make sure they understand the meaning of the text. Deal with the language points at the same time. The teacher can use blackboard or the slid projector to help the teaching.

    Step 3. Listen to the audiotape again and let the students read after it and pay attention to the pronunciation.

    Step 4. Have them read the text for a few minutes and then ask them to act out the dialogue in roles.

    Step 5. Practice: LET’S DO IT

    In a small group, make a menu for the train. What foods can you buy on the train? How much do they cost? Write the menu on a piece of paper. Practice using the menu with your classmates.

    Divide the class into pairs. Each pair makes up a dialogue about being thirsty and wanting something to drink. The students can use their flashcards to represent drinks.

    Teaching steps

    StepⅠ Warm-up

    老师向学生问候,运用ppt 展示图片,向同学们概括介绍本单元内容,将要学到的重点语法项目。教师说:“OK. Today we will begin to learn a new unit. What will we talk about? Let’s see the screen.”

    1. 教师运用ppt展示图片,教师问学生:“ Do you eat breakfast today? What do you usually eat for breakfast?”。学生进行回答后,教师展示谚语:Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.同学们猜谚语的含义。教师先不解释答案。待本节最后揭示答案。

    StepⅡ Presentation

    教师罗列本节重点单词,学生听录音跟读单词。教师讲解单词发音,重点讲解

    restaurant, cup 中发元音[ ɒ][ ʌ]的字母,并举例。然后,学生尝试用新单词造句。最后,教师给出例句,并作简要讲解。

    1. 教师按课文内容提出问题,学生合上书,先听一遍录音尝试回答问题。然后,教师先不给出正确答案,学生带着问题学习课文。
    2. 学生听录音,大声朗读课文。熟悉课文内容后,学生尝试独立翻译课文。教师可以安排学生,以开火车的方式逐句翻译课文。
    3. 小组讨论,找出课文中的知识点包括短语,句型,语法。然后,小组派一名代表总结发言。每一组说过的知识点,下一组不在重复,但可以补充。接下来,教师讲解课文中重点词汇短语、重点句型语法 。最后,学生两人一组分角色做对话练习。对话说一句英语后,同时对方进行中文翻译,彼此交替。例如:

    A: It’s seven fifteen.                  B: 现在七点十五了。

    A: Time for breakfast!              B: 吃早饭的时间到了。What’s for breakfast, Dad?

    A: 早饭吃什么,爸爸?           B: We have cereal, …….

    1. 教师带领学生完成let’s do it 的听力及课文填空内容。然后,对课文提出的问题进行解答。同时,讲解课前的谚语的含义,通过中西方对三餐谚语的不同说法导入中西方饮食文化的不同,并向学生简单介绍。

    英文谚语:Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.

    翻译: 早上吃得像个国王,午餐吃得像个王子,晚餐吃得像个乞丐。

    中文谚语:早吃好,午吃饱,晚吃少。

    1. 教师板书并总结本节中的重点内容。

    Step Ⅲ Practice

    1. 学生根据课文内容,通过组织对话介绍自己早餐吃什么,运用本节重点句型做对话练习。

    Step Ⅳ Homework

    1. 背诵本节单词及短语。

    2. 询问家人三餐爱吃什么,并用英语总结。
