The winter break is just about to end. Soon we will be back at school. It's with both happiness and sadness. I look very much forward to seeing my friends and starting practice again, but it also means I'm officially half way through the exchange year. With school starting there are new things to try out and experience. For example, I'm starting a new sport, Track. It's similar to Cross Country, which I did from August till November.
Being here for half a year now, I can easily tell the differences between my two schools. The hardest or most different part for me was to have the same schedule every day here. Honestly, I prefer to have different classes every day, as I did in my home country. However, I have fallen in love with the Friday football games. Football is one of my favorite sports now. Before I came, I knew nothing about it. Now I love it, especially to watch it with my host parents. I have also been so lucky to go to two college football games.
Before I left school in December, I had a couple of tests called Mid-term Test. They all went pretty smooth, mostly because I didn't have too many hard classes. My favorite class was English, and also my hardest. Personally I really liked English, where I could write essays（文章）, challenge writing skills and improve English talking.
Only four days of winter break is left. A part of me wants to be on a break forever, and the other part expects to get started again, start a new sport and see my friends and classmates.

We see a woman swimming at night in a dark sea. Suddenly, she is pulled underwater. She surfaces, cries in fear, then disappears forever. This is the opening scene from the 1975 film Jaws, showing a shark attack. It tells the story of a great white shark that attacks and kills swimmers.
People have always been scared of sharks, but Jaws made things worse. It made people frightened of sharks, especially of the great white shark. Many people who saw the film started to believe that sharks were bad animals that ate humans. Some people stopped swimming in the sea, afraid of the horrible creature from the film. Other people started fishing for sharks, killing as many as they could. At that time, nobody cared if sharks were killed, or how many were killed. People just wanted them killed.
After 1975, the number of large sharks around America fell quickly, and soon fell around the world. This was not only due to fear of sharks, but also finning. Finning is a type of fishing where sharks are caught and their fins cut off. The sharks are thrown back into the sea where they die slowly and painfully. The fins are used in shark fin soup. Finning kills millions of sharks a year.
Finning would have an unexpected effect upon Peter Benchley, the man who wrote the book the film Jaws was based on. In 1980, Benchley was diving when he came across an awful sight. It was an area where fishermen were finning, and the sea floor was covered with dead sharks. Benchley saw sharks being killed and this caused a deep change in him. He came to see people as a danger to sharks, rather than the other way round. From that day on, he fought to protect sharks. He admitted that his book was wrong about sharks' behavior. "Sharks don't target humans," he said. Experts have proved that sharks do not see people as food, and they attack us by mistake.
Fortunately, not everyone who watched the film Jaws became afraid of sharks-some became interested in understanding them. Today, as we learn more about sharks, more people than ever want to protect them from extinction.

The mental health of children is connected to their parents' mental health. The mental health of parents and children is connected in many ways. W: As the car industry develops, traffic accidents have become as familiar as the common cold. Yet their causes and control remain a serious problem that is difficult to solve. Experts have long recognized that this discouraging problem has many causes. At the very least, it is a problem that involves three factors: the driver, the vehicle and the roadway. If all the drivers exercised good judgment at all times, there would be few accidents. Improved design has helped to make highways much safer. But the number of accidents continues to rise because of human failure and an enormous increase in the number of automobiles on the road. The winter break is just about to end. Soon we will be back at school. It's with both happiness and sadness. I look very much forward to seeing my friends and starting practice again, but it also means I'm officially half way through the exchange year. With school starting there are new things to try out and experience. For example, I'm starting a new sport, Track. It's similar to Cross Country, which I did from August till November.
Being here for half a year now, I can easily tell the differences between my two schools. The hardest or most different part for me was to have the same schedule every day here. Honestly, I prefer to have different classes every day, as I did in my home country. However, I have fallen in love with the Friday football games. Football is one of my favorite sports now. We see a woman swimming at night in a dark sea. Suddenly, she is pulled underwater. She surfaces, cries in fear, then disappears forever. This is the opening scene from the 1975 film Jaws, showing a shark attack. It tells the story of a great white shark that attacks and kills swimmers.
People have always been scared of sharks, but Jaws made things worse. It made people frightened of sharks, especially of the great white shark. After 1975, the number of large sharks around America fell quickly, and soon fell around the world. This was not only due to fear of sharks, but also finning. Finning is a type of fishing where sharks are caught and their fins cut off. The sharks are thrown back into the sea where they die slowly and painfully. The fins are used in shark fin soup. Finning kills millions of sharks a year.
Finning would have an unexpected effect upon Peter Benchley, the man who wrote the book the film Jaws was based on. In 1980, Benchley was diving when he came across an awful sight. It was an area where fishermen were finning, and the sea floor was covered with dead sharks. Benchley saw sharks being killed and this caused a deep change in him. He came to see people as a danger to sharks, rather than the other way round. From that day on, he fought to protect sharks. He admitted that his book was wrong about sharks' behavior. "Sharks don't target humans," he said. Experts have proved that sharks do not see people as food, and they attack us by mistake.
