    Analysis of the marterial

    教材分析

     

    This passage belongs to human and society.It consists of two letters,including asking questions and giving suggestions.The questions the students asked are about the conflicts with his classmates. The second passage is a letter of advice, aiming to give students advice when getting along with others.

    Analysis of the students

    学情分析

    The topic is familiar and the problems Ben faced are similar to the students. So that won't be too difficult for them. They have the basic ability to speak, so the speaking task won't be too difficult neither.

    Teaching objective

    At the end of this part, students will be able to:

    1. Language competence:enable students to know the main idea of the two passages. And master some useful expressions.
    2. Cultural awareness:enable students to aware of the problems they will face during the middle school.And lead them to handle those problems correctly. After this passage, they will learn the importance of skills when dealing with relationships with others
    3. Thinking quality: enables students to think how to describe peoplegive suggestions and reflect how should we get on well with others by group discussion.
      4.Learning ability:enable students to master the skill of reading,including skimming and reading.

    Get the main idea of the two letters, get the structure of writing a letter of advice. Meawhile, know how to dandle conflicts with others.

    Step 1 lead in

    1.    Ask students to discuss two questions on page 2.  

    Step 2 Pre-reading (prediction)

     Ask students to guess who the boy and the lady are. And the give some background information of Agnoy Aunt.

     Ask students what problems might Ben meet and let students read with questions.

    Step 3 While reading

     Ask students five questions to help them to read the two letters.

    1. What are the problemsAsk students to read the first letter and finish the table:)

      Bens questions:

    I was disappointed with my teammate because I felt_______________________

    I told my best friend that my teammate was to blame, just ______________

    My best friend__________ I dont know what to do

    1. How did he feel during the process?

     Mad---disappointed--angry----akward and angry----embarrassed and ashamed

    1. What suggestions did Agony Aunt give him?

    You should ________. You need to work together and that means_______ and__________-

    Tell your best friend you’re angry with him for_____ and ____, but that you want to move on.

    Don’t _________  when you’re angry. Always remember:

    1. What is the function of  the first three paragraghs?

    1. Ask students to conclude the structure of a letter of advice according to question 4and 5

    Step 4 Post Reading

    1. Summarize Bens problems and match the advice that given by the Agnoy Aunt.
    2. Think and Share:

         What do you think of Agony Aunts advice?

         What other advice would you give to Ben?

         What is your understanding of the saying Loose lips sink ships?

    How can we get along well with our classmates?

    Step 5 Homework

    1. Review what we have learned today.

    2. find out -ed forms in this passage and try to analysze the fuction
