    2. On the basis of the language learned in this unit, students can describe the interpersonal problems they have encountered in the process of growing up, and express their emotional changes and understanding of emotional management.

    The lead-in activities before reading guide students to discuss the issues that they pay more attention to in interpersonal communication, so as to bring out the topic and pave the way for the study of the text; Reading activities mainly test students' ability to grasp the content of the text and to sort out the context of the article. After reading, students are inspired to think deeply and explore the meaning of the topic by summarizing the main idea, understanding the details and asking questions related to themselves.

    T guides Ss to talk about what problems they would face in their daily life and to whom they can turn to for help when facing a certain kind of problem and why.

    Ss share with each other the problems they face at school.

    Step 1.

    T asks Ss to read through the passage, focusing on the pictures, addresses, signatures and compare the two letters.

     

     

    Step 2.

    T guides Ss to predict what suggestions would be given in Agony Aunts letter.

     

     

    Step 3.

    T asks Ss to share their opinions about Bens problem and Agony Aunts suggestions.

     

    Step 4.

    Think & Share

    1. T guides Ss to think about what other advices would they give to Ben?

     

    2. T asks Ss to share their opinions about Loose lips sink ships.

     

     

    Step 5.

    T asks Ss to put words and expressions discussed them in groups according to the context.

    Ss realise the relations between the two letters and can locate in the certain part of the passage to fill in blanks of Bens problems on page 4.   

    Ss pick out three suggestions mentioned in the part and fill in blanks of Agony Aunts suggestions.

     

    Ss share with others their understanding of the passage and finish exercise 3.

     

     

    Ss scan the passage to get to know the main idea.

     

    Ss read the passage carefully to find out supporting details.

     

    Ss talk freely and extend their thinking and talking into real life.

    This lesson is the period two of Book 3 (Foreign Language Teaching and Research 2019 Version.) The teaching content is about a student having trouble in interpersonal relationship turns to Agony Aunt for help and the response from Agony Aunt. During this lesson, Ss are required to complete some tasks to understand the two letters and learn to give suggestions to help others out under the created situations.
