    Analysis of material:

    The content of the lesson is New Standard English for Senior High Schools, Book1 Unit 4 grammar and vocabulary. This content is about the usages of Attributive clauses(1) and the keywords of friendship.

     

    Analysis of students

    This class is designed for the first semester of grade one. Students have already previewed the content of this class. Although they have learn the Attributive clauses(1) in middle school, they still need opportunities to practice what they have learned.

     

     

     

     

    Teaching aims

    After this lesson, Students are able to

    Linguistic ability:

    1. master some key words to describe qualities of friends
    2. review the structure and usages of Attributive clauses.

    Thinking ability:

    1.  distinguish the qualities a friend.
    2.  learn to classify and determinate the information.

       establish a healthy relationship by understanding the qualities a friend should have.

    Learning ability:

    develop their abilities of speaking, reading and writing.

    improve their ability of using Attributive clauses(1) to solve the problem.

    Step1 lead-in (3mins)

    1. T shows two sentences, and asks Ss the differences between them and asks them what is the second sentence?

    Observe the sentences and find out the differencesand what is the second sentence?

    1. She is a pretty girl
    2. She is a girl who is pretty.

    Lead the topic to this lesson, to stimulate Sss interest in this lesson

     

     

     

     

     

    Step2 present

    (10mins)

     

    1. T guides Ss to observe sentences (a)(b)(c)(d), and answer the questions.
      1. What does that refer to in Sentence(a).
      2. What does who refer to in Sentence(b).
      3. What is the difference between the groups of sentences?
      4. Why does the author choose to use sentences(a) and(b) in the reading passage?
      5. What other words are used to introduce attributive clauses? What do they refer to?

     

    1. T asks Ss to concludes the rules of attributive clauses.

     

    T asks Ss to look for more sentences with attributive clauses in the reading passage.

    Step3 practice(12mins)

     

    1. T asks Ss to read the passage of Activity2, rewrite the underlined sentences with that, which, who, whom or whose .
    2. T asks Ss what kind of person is Lucy?
    3. T asks Ss to read the reading passage of Activity3, and complete the online forum post with that, which, who, whom or whose in groups.
    4. T asks Ss what qualities do he and his team members have that make them get along well?

     

    Get Ss master the ability to use Attributive clauses(1) .

    Step4 Production(12mins)

     

    T provides some adjectives to describe people, and asks them to describe friends that they want to own. (kind, honest, helpful, comfortable, patient, generous, houmous, passionate, funny, hopeful, warm-hearted...)

    1. Get Ss master some keywords of friendship.
    2. Practice Sss ability of writing and expressing.

    Summary

    (2mins)

    1. The definition, structure, usages of Attributive clauses.
    2. How to use Attributive clauses to describe friends.

     

    Get Ss summarize what they have learned.
