教学过程

Step 1　Warming up

Free talk. Ask the students:

(1) Do you enjoy learning English?

(2) Why do you learn English?

(3) Do you think English is useful?

(4) How to learn English well?

(5) Which do you think is difficult for you about learning English?

Step 2　Presentation

Ask the students to read the instructions in Activity 1 and check (√) the ones they understand.

 1 Work in pairs. Ask and answer the questions.

 2 Correct the spelling.

 3 Listen and check the words you hear.

 4 Practise saying the words.

 5 Match the words with their meanings.

 6 Complete the sentences with the words in the box.

Step 3　Listening

1. Play the recording，and ask the students to listen and answer the questions in Activity 2. Use the words and expressions in the box.

1 Which word did Daming not understand?

2 What mistake did Lingling make?

3 How does Daming usually check the spelling of a word?

4 Why was it difficult for Daming to check the spelling of cinema?

2. Check the answers in pairs.

Answers:

1 Daming didn’t understand the word“spring”.

2 Lingling made a grammar mistake. She said“go” instead of“went”.

3 He usually looks it up in the dictionary.

4 It was difficult because he didn’t know the first letter.

Step 4　Listening and reading

1. Listen to the conversation in Activity 3. And choose the right answers to the sentences.

① Ms James and her class are talking about _______.

C. good ways to correct the English mistakes

② Ms James is going to give her students some advice because ________.

2. Check the answers together.

3. Listen to the conversation again. And write notes about learning English on Page 3.

4. Check the answers in groups.

5. Ask the students to read the conversation after the recording. Then let them read in pairs.

6. Ask some of them to act it out.

7. Read the phrases in the conversation and try to remember them.

Step 5　Language points

1. Let’s try to speak English as much as possible.

  让我们试着尽可能多说英语。

 (1) try to do sth. 表示“努力去做某事，尽力做某事”。

He tried to take good care of his sister when his mother was out.

他妈妈出去时他尽量照顾好他的妹妹。

  (2) as much as possible 尽可能多地

     类似的还有as soon as possible“尽可能快地”。

2. Why not write down our mistakes in our notebooks? 

  为什么不把错误记在我们的笔记本上呢？

 (1)“Why not …?”用来表示提出建议，相当于“Why don’t you/we…?”。

    Why not take a walk after supper?

    = Why don’t you take a walk after supper?

你为什么不晚饭后散步呢？

【拓展】类似表示提出建议的句型还有：

      How about …? 

      What about …?

      Would you like …?

      Let’s …

  (2) write down 意为“写下，记下”，与put down同义。

    Let’s write down the correct answers.让我们写下正确的答案吧。

    How about writing down your ideas? 写下你的想法怎么样？

3. And don’t forget to write down the correct answers next to the mistakes. What else?而且不要忘记把正确答案写在所犯错误旁边。还有吗？

(1)forget to do sth.忘记去做某事（某事还没发生）

forget doing sth.忘记做过某事（某事已经发生）

Don’t forget to post a letter for me.别忘了帮我邮信。

I forget seeing you somewhere.我忘记了在什么地方见过你。

【拓展】类似用法的单词还有remember, stop等。

 remember to do sth.记得要做某事

remember doing sth.记得做过某事

(2) else常用在疑问词或不定代词后，表示“其他，另外”。

这里的 what else 接在前几个表示建议的句子后，相当于“What else should you do?”。

Who else did you see at the meeting?

你在会上还看见谁了？

Does anyone else want to read this book?

还有别人想要看这本书吗？

4. Yes, that’s good for our pronunciation. 是的，它有益于我们的发音。

be good for 表示“对……有益”,其反义短语为be bad for“对……有害”。

Eating more vegetables is good for your health.

多吃蔬菜对你们的健康有好处。

Playing computer games is bad for our eyes.玩电脑游戏对我们的眼睛有害。

5. I agree with you.我同意你的观点。

  agree with sb.表示“同意某人的看法、观点”。

  agree on sth.表示“同意某事”。

Step 6　Practice

1. Ask the students to finish Activity 4 on Page 3:Underline the correct words and expressions.

Here is my (1) advice / notebook on learning English. Speak English (2) always / as much as possible in class，and listen to English (3) in the newspaper / on the radio. I (4) agree / forget it is a good idea to look up new words in the (5) notebook / dictionary. You can find the (6) correct / excellent pronunciation and learn the meaning.

2. Check the answers together.

3. Ask the students to read the passage in groups.

Step 7　Pronunciation and speaking

1. Play the recording once without stopping.

2. Ask the students to mark the intonation. And then check the answers.

3. Play the recording again. Ask the whole class to repeat.

4. Ask some of the students to read in class.

5. Work in pairs. Talk about problems in learning English and give advice.
