设计说明 利用本单元Reading部分的两个学校导入新课,引导学生复习英文中数字的表达方法。为接下来的听力做好准备。让学生自己阅读A1,明确在听力训练时需要获得哪些未知信息,旨在培养学生阅读信息和获取信息的能力。然后让学生就已经完成的三所学校的听力表进行口头比较。既回顾了语法部分的内容,又为接下来的学习打下了基础。再充分利用Speak up的句型练习口语,听说互相促进。然后通过小练习逐步引出后缀-ly。解释形容词变为副词和名词变形容词的规律,并通过简单的练习,引导学生总结出规律。对所学的后缀做巩固练习,让学生体验具体用法,及时地总结规律。 教学目标 通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 掌握词汇:spend, spend time on/ doing sth., chess, at most, daily, weekly, quick, through, look through, real, at first, keep (on) doing sth. 2.能力目标 (1)听录音抓细节,能从听力材料中获取所需数字。 (2)使用相关话题进行口语交际,运用more...than,fewer...than, less...than, the fewest和the least来比较数量,巩固语法。 (3)掌握形容词加后缀-ly构成副词的方法和名词加后缀-ly构成形容词的方法。 3.情感目标 了解英语学习的规律方法,激发英语学习兴趣。 重点难点 重点:在听力材料中抓住所需数词和未知信息;形容词加后缀-ly构成副词的方法和名词加后缀-ly构成形容词的方法 难点:用比较级和最高级以及一些固定句式谈论一些不同的学校生活 教学准备 PPT课件;相关图片 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Lead-in 1. Ask students to compare life in Woodland School and Rocky Mountain High School. What kind of school is Woodland School? Which subject does Nancy like best? Why? What can students do during the Reading Week? Who is Tony? What do the students do in the Buddy Club? What do John and his friends do on Friday afternoon ? How often does John play baseball? 2. Ask students to review words about numbers.
基数词1—12 是独立单词,需逐个记忆。 基数词13—19是个位数词的词干后加-teen构成。 其中thirteen, fifteen, eighteen变化不规则。 基数词20—90是在十位数词后面加-ty构成。 基数词21—99是在十位数词后面加上个位数词合成,中间加上连字符“-”。 基数词三位以上的数词, 在百位和十位之间, 一般要用连词“and”。 Step 2 Listening 1. Teach students some listening tips. Listening tips: (1)Count from the right side of the number. (2)Put a comma between every three numbers. (3)Read the first comma as thousand and the second comma as million. 2. Ask students to listen carefully to the article about different schools by Daniel and finish the first column in the form. Replay the tape if necessary. Check the answers with the students. Then ask them to make sentences with the information in the table. 3. Ask students to listen to the conversation and complete the rest of the form. Check the answers with the students. Replay the key points to check answers if necessary. Then ask them to make sentences with the information in the table. 4. Ask students to complete the article in A3 on page 25. Ask the students to read the article to check the answers together. Then emphasize some sentence structures, reviewing grammar rules learned before.
•Sunshine Middle School has the most teachers and students of the three. • Chinese students have more weeks off for the summer holiday than British students. • British students spend less time doing homework than Chinese students. • Among the three schools, American students spend the least time on homework. 5. Ask students to read the form carefully and match the sentences with the correct people.
Step 3 Speak up Ask students to have a free talk. • What are your hobbies? • How much time can you spend on your hobbies? Step 4 Presentation 1. Ask students to listen to the conversation and answer the two questions: (1)How much time does Daniel spend on his hobbies every day ? (2)What about Millie/ Simon/ Amy? Answers are: (1)About one hour. (2)Millie has only half an hour. Simon has about two hours. Amy has about half an hour. 2. Ask students to read after the tape and practice in groups. Pay attention to the pronunciation. 3. Ask students to work in groups and talk about their hobbies. Use the conversation as a model. A: How much time do you spend on your hobbies ? Step 8 Practice 1. Ask students to add -ly to each of the words in the box on the left. Then put them in different groups.
