    Reading: Peoples jobs

    设计说明

    呈现有关各种职业的图片,让学生结对练习,询问图片中人物的职业以及每天的工作,由此导入本课的学习。通过给提示,分小组猜职业,加深学生对各种职业的了解。呈现生词,为后面的学习做好语言铺垫。通过听课文、读课文,让学生听懂、读懂。接下来,通过让学生回答问题的形式,细读课文,掌握信息要点。通过填表练习,让学生提炼课文信息,并能够写出来。给出课文结构,让学生背诵课文。结合练习册上的练习,检验学生是否能够根据已给信息正确描述职业。对重要的知识点进行讲解,增加学生的语言积累。结合当堂达标的练习,检测学生对本课节知识的掌握情况,提升语言运用能力。

    教学目标

    通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标:

    1.知识目标

    掌握本课节新词汇:block, architect, construction, company, type, removal

    能用一般现在时谈论习惯性的动作或状态。

    2.能力目标

    能读懂有关人们职业的文章,能够完成知识提取和信息转换。

    3.情感目标

    让学生了解社会生活所需要的各行各业,鼓励他们正确认识各行各业的价值。

    重点难点

    重点掌握本课节新词汇block, architect, construction, company, type, removal;能用一般现在时谈论习惯性的动作或状态

    难点能读懂有关人们职业的文章,能够完成知识提取和信息转换。

    教学准备

    PPT课件;活动Read的录音,有关各种职业的图片,如秘书、记者、厨师、歌手、飞行员、邮递员、售货员、消防员等。

    教学过程

    Step 1 Warming up

    1. Show some pictures to the students.

          

    secretary                  reporter

     

    cook                   singer

    pilot                      postman

     

    shop assistant              fireman

      2. Let the students work in pairs. Talk about what these people do like this:

      S1: What is his/her job?

      S2:…

      S1:What does he/she do every day?

      S2:…

      3. Get some pairs talk in front of the class.

     

    Step 2 Guessing game

    1. Divide the class into several groups.

    2. Show some information of some people. Let them guess what he/she does.

    3. The group with the most correct answers in the shortest time wins.

    A: Im good at writing and taking photos. I write articles for newspapers.

    B: Im good at sports. Im strong and fit. I usually put out fires.

    C: Im good at riding bicycles. I deliver letters to peoples homes.

    D: I like eating. I also enjoy cooking. I make delicious food for the others.

    E: I work in a hospital. People who are sick always come to me for help.

    F: I can fly a plane. I like my job.

    G: I drive a bus every day. It is fun. I can meet different people every day.

    4. Check the answers.

    Answers:

    Step 3 Presentation

    Present some new words: block, architect, construction, company, type, removal.

    Construction workers work for a construction company.

    Step 4 Listen and read

    Mrs Wang, Miss Tang, Susan and David live in the same block of flats as Ben and Kitty. They have different jobs.

    1. Let the students read the passage silently.

    Mrs Wang is a doctor. She works in a hospital. She makes sick people better.

    Miss Tang is an architect. She works for a construction company. She draws plans of buildings.

    Susan is a secretary. She works in an office. She types letters.

    David is a removal man. He works for a removal company. He moves peoples furniture to their new flats.

    2. Play the recording. Let the students follow it.

    3. Ask individual students to read a paragraph each.

     

    Step 5 Further reading

    1. Ask the students to read Paragraph 1 and answer the following questions.

    (1) What is Mrs Wang’s job?

    (2) Where does she work?

    (3) What does she do?

    2. Check the answers together.

    Answers:

    (1) She is a doctor.

    (2) In a hospital.

    (3) She makes sick people better.

    3. Ask the students to read Paragraph 2 and answer the following questions.

    (1) What is Miss Tang’s job?

    (2) Where does she work?

    (3) What does she do?

    4. Check the answers together.

    Answers:

    (1) She is an architect.

    (2) In a construction company.

    (3) She draws plans of buildings.

    5. Ask the students to read Paragraph 3 and answer the following questions.

    (1) What is Susans job?

    (2) Where does she work?

    (3) What does she do?

    6. Check the answers together.

    Answers:

    (1) She is a secretary.

    (2) In an office.

    (3) She types letters.

    7. Ask the students to read Paragraph 4 and answer the following questions.

    (1) What is Davids job?

    (2) Where does he work?

    (3) What does he do?

    8. Check the answers together.

    Answers:

    (1) He is a removal man.

    (2) In a removal company.

    (3) He moves peoples furniture to their new flats.

     

    Step 6 Read, match and write

    1. Get the students to complete the table.

    2. Ask the students to work in groups if necessary.

    3. Check the answers orally together.

    Answers: (1) removal man (2) David (3) secretary (4) Susan (5) doctor

    (6) Mrs Wang (7) architect (8) Miss Tang

     

    Step 7 Recite

    Ask the students to recite the passage according to the structure.

     

    Step 8 Look, read and write

    1. Turn to page 22 in Workbook 7A. Let the students work in pairs.

    2. Get them to prepare the sentences without writing.

    3. Ask individual students to read a sentence each.

    4. The students write the sentences. Ask further individual students to read a completed sentence.

    5. Check the answers together.
