知识点一 population的用法·

教材原文 China has the biggest population in the world.在世界上中国拥有最多的人口.

population 作名词,意为“人口;人口数量”.表示“人口多”时要用big或large来修饰 population;表示“人口少”时要用small来修饰 population.

Our country has a large population and abundant resources.我国人口众多,资源丰富.

We have a growing population and therefore we need more food.

我们的人口数量在增长,因此我们需要更多的食物.

拓展 询问“某地有多少人口”时,要用what,即“What's the population of+地点?”.注意该句式中的特殊疑问词不能用how many 或 how much.

-What's the population of Hong Kong?香港有多少人口?

-Sorry, I don't know. Let's ask Mr. Lee.对不起,我不知道.我们问问李老师吧.

例1(2020新疆乌鲁木齐期末)-_________ the population of Urumqi?

知识点二one of＋the+形容词最高级＋复数名词

“one of+the+形容词最高级＋复数名词＂意为“最.····的·····之一”.

The Nile is one of the longest rivers in the world.尼罗河是世界上最长的河流之一.

Miss Wang is one of the most popular teachers in our school.在我们学校,王老师是最受欢迎的老师之一.

例2 (2020贵州黔东南州中考)Fishing is one of_________ activities among the middle-aged men like my uncles.

解析 句意:钓鱼是像我叔叔们这样的中年人中最受欢迎的活动之一.“one of+the+形容词最高级＋可数名词复数形式”意为“最······的······之一”,是固定结构,故选D.

知识点三 much 修饰比较级的用法

教材原文 It's much older than my country.它比我的国家古老得多.

本句中 much修饰形容词比较级,此时much表程度,可以翻译成“······得多”.

My bed is much bigger than yours.我的床比你的大得多.

注意 可以修饰比较级的词或短语有much、a little、still、even、a bit等,此时这些修饰性的词或短语表程度.

You run much faster than he does.你跑得比他快多了.

That sweater is even more expensive than this one.那件毛衣比这件贵得多.

例3 (2020山西晋城高平期末)The actress is already 50, but she looks_________ than she really is.

解析 句意:这位女演员已经50岁了,但她看起来比她实际上年轻得多.根据向意及句中的than可知,这里要用比较级,young的比较级是直接在后面加er, much修饰比较级,故选B

知识点四 wide的具体用法

教材原文 As you can see, it's quite tall and wide.正如你所看到的,它很高,而且很宽.

wide 作形容词,意为“宽的;宽阔的”,wide还有“广泛的;范围大的”之意.

It must be very interesting to swim in the wide ocean.在辽阔的海洋中游泳一定很有趣.

Robert has done many different things. He has wide experience.

罗伯特做过很多不同的事情,他有丰富的经验.

width n.宽度 -th是名词后缀,再如depth(深度),length(长度)等

知识点五 succeed的具体用法
