      本课时为该单元第一课时主要学习与庭院拍卖会、生活中的常用物品有关的词汇。语法主要是现在完成时表示持续性的动作或状态的用法。How long have you had that...?”“I’ve had it for...句型。通过多媒体以及图片展示,利用直观教学法学习生词,可以激发学生的学习兴趣,提高课堂效率;通过小组问答,讨论他们拥有的物品和拥有的时间,以此来操练主要句型,能更好地调动学生参与;通过听录音、角色扮演等活动让学生在轻松的气氛中学习;通过调查问卷等形式培养学生的合作意识。在情感上培养学生的爱心,让他们学会关心他人,爱护他人。

    教学目标

      1. 知识目标

      多媒体课件、录音机和磁带、一些物品图片、调查表格。

    教学过程

      Step 1 Revision & Warming up

      Free talk. Talk about the things students have and how long they have had them.

      Show some things on the screenand ask the students to find one of the things they have at home. Then teach the students how to answer the questions. Make a conversation like this

      S1How long have you had the...?

      S2I have had it/them for...

      S3I have had it/them since...

      Step 2 Practice

      Look at the picture in 1a. Work in pairs to talk about the things in the picture and what the people in the picture are doing.

      For example

      ADo you have a bike?

      BYesI do.

      AHow long have you had it?

      BFor eight years.

      ...

      Step 3 Presentation

      1. Show the pictures ofsweet”“centon the screenand teach them.

      TLook at this. It’s.../It tastes...Do you have one?

      2. Teachyard sale”“memoryusing the picture on page 73.

      TLook at the picture. The boy is Jeff. What’s he doing?

      Help the class to answer.

      He’s having a yard sale. It’s a sweet memory.

      3. Get the class to practise reading the new words.

      Step 4 Listening

      1. Work on 1b.

      1TJeff is having a yard sale. Amy is asking Jeff about his bike. Look at the picture. Can you guess what you will hear in the conversation?

      2Play the recorder for the first time. Let students finish 1b.

      3Play the recorder for the second time. Let students check the answers in class.

      Answers Jeff’s family is having a yard sale.

    Amy thinks it’s hard to sell her old things.

    You can also give old things away to people in need.

      4Let students look at the listening material on page 106 and page 107. Play the recorder again and let students listen and repeat. Pay attention to their pronunciation.

      2. Work on 1c.

      1Ask a student to read the conversation in 1c first.

      2Practice the conversation in pairs. They must change some information to talk about the things in the picture in 1a.

      3Ask some pairs to act out their conversations in front of the class.

      Step 5 Presentation

      1. Show students the following pictures and teach the new words and phrasestoysoftbread makerscarfboard gamecheck.

      Get the class to practice the new words and phrases. Then check them.

      1Match the words with the Chinese meanings.

      

      2Choose the right phrase according to the pictures.

      2. Explain that Amy’s family is having a yard sale. They are going to sell some old things. Look at 2a. What things are they going to sell? Read the words in 2a first.

      3. Work in pairs to talk about the things. For example

       · Do you have...?

       · How long have you had it?

       · Which one will you give away? Why?

       · Which one will you keep? Why?

      Ask some pairs to act out their conversations in front of the class.

      Step 6 Listening

      1. Play the recorder for the first time. Let students finish 2a.

      2. Play the recorder for the second time to check the answers.

      3. Work on 2b. Students look through the sentences first to predict the missing words.

      4. Play the recorder for the third time. Students listen and fill in the blanks. Then check them.

      Step 7 Practice

      Find out some important sentences and write them down on the blackboard

      I’ve had it for three years.

      I want to keep the bear because I’ve had it since I was a baby.

      I’ve had it for more than 10 years.

      1. Ask students to make their own sentences according to the things they really have.

      2. Role-play the conversation in 2c.

      Step 8 Role-play

      1. Read the conversation in 2d. And then answer the questions.

      1What is Linda?

      She may be a worker/an assistant in the Sunshine Home for Children.

      2What does Amy want to do?

      She wants to give away some things to the kids.

      3What things has Amy brought?

      A magazinesoft toysboard gamesa sweatera dressa bread maker.

      4How long has Amy or her mom had them?

      She’s had the magazine for a couple of months.

      She’s had the soft toys and board games since she was a child.

      Her mom has had the bread maker for a long time.

      2. Play the recorder and let students listen and read.

      3. Ask students to role-play the conversation in pairs.

      4. Do a survey.

      Next weekend your class will visit the children’s home and give away some things to the children. What will you give away? Work in groups and fill in the chart.

      5. Make up their own conversations according to the chart. And ask some pairs to practice their conversations in front of the class.

      Step 9 Practice

      Students close their books. Complete the passage according to 2d.

      Amy is at the Sunshine Home for Children. She has some things for the kids. They’re a magazinesome soft toyssome board gamesa sweatera dressand a bread maker. She has had that magazine for a couple of months. The stories inside may be a bit oldbut they’re still interesting. She has had those soft toys and board games for younger kids since she was a child. Her mom has had that bread maker for a long time but it still works.

      Step 10 Cooperative inquiry

      Discuss the following language points in groups and fill in the blanks.

      1. How long have you had that bike over there? 那边的那辆自行车你买了多长时间了?

      —I’ve had it for three years. 我买了三年了。

      ②I’ve had them since I was a child. 从我是个小孩子起,我就拥有了它们。

      以上句子都表示从过去开始持续到现在的动作或状态,可以和表示“从过去某一时刻延续到现在的一段时间”连用,如“for +时间段”“since +时间点”“since +从句 (过去时)”“since +一段时间+ ago”。

      用since for 完成下列句子:

      1She has been ill for more than two weeks.

      2I haven’t met him for a long time.

      3Mary has been here since eight o’clock this morning.

      4It hasn’t rained since two months ago.

      2. I’ve had this magazine for a couple of months. 这本杂志我买了几个月了。

      a couple of有两种意思:其一,表示具体的数量“两个”,指两个人或物;其二,表示数量不确定的“少数几个”,作这种虚指的用法时,具体意思往往根据上下文和具体的语境来确定。

      You have to wait for a couple of hours for the clothes to dry completely. 你得等上一两个小时让这些衣服干透。

      Look! There are a couple of boys waiting for you at the door. 瞧!门口有两三个男孩正在等你。

      3. Because I don’t read it anymore. 因为我不再看它了。

      not...anymore意为“不再”。

      副词 anymore也可以写作any more,常用于否定句的末尾。not...anymorenot...any longer同义。

      You can have itfor I don’t need it anymore.

      你可以把它拿走,因为我不再需要它了。

      The doctor told me not to play computer games anymore.

      医生让我不要再玩电脑游戏了。
