The chances are that as yu d it, yu reflect n hw inventive this traditinal art is. Animals, bxes, flwers, bats all can be created frm a single square r rectangular sheet f paper simply by flding it. N cutting, n pasting.
But d yu ever stp t think hw the same techniques might be applied t engineering? Origami meets the demands fr things that need t be small when transprted and large when used, like the everyday umbrella. In fact, creatins inspired by rigami have already appeared: in 1995, Japanese engineers launched a satellite with slar panels flded like a map.
“It's nw mathematically prven that yu can fld almst anything,” says the physicist Rbert J. Lang, wh quit his engineering jb eight years ag t fld things fulltime. Rbert, an rigami enthusiast since age six, advised a wellknwn car manufacturer abut the best way t fld an airbag int a dashbard. He is currently wrking n a space telescpe lens that, if all ges as his plan, shuld be able t unfld t the size f a ftball field.
Researchers are als wrking n tiny flding devices that culd lead t breakthrughs in medicine and cmputing. There's n dubt that cmputers f the future may cntain tiny, flding mtrs r capacitrs fr faster prcessing and better memries.
Applicatins f this technique g further than many f us might imagine. “Sme day,” says MIT's Erik Demaine, “we'll invent recnfigurable (可重新配置的) rbts that can transfrm themselves. Maybe sme things in science fictin will cme true in the future.”

根据第一段中的“The chances are that as yu d it, yu reflect n hw inventive this traditinal art is.”
根据第三段中的“advised a wellknwn car manufacturer abut the best way t fld an airbag int a dashbard”可知,以最佳方式折叠安全气囊并放进汽车仪表盘是折纸工艺的一种应用。
由第二段中的“The 8mile mark was when I figured ut that I had made a mistake”可知,Mike Khler是在跑了8公里后发现自己犯了个错误。故选B。
由第三段中的“After I decided I was ging t keep ging, the thught f quitting didn't cme back. 故选A。
由第四段中的“Until Saturday, Khler's lngest race was a 10kilmeter run, just ver 6 miles. Even the mst casual marathners d a training run f 18 miles befre the race.”
