- Sentences:
A: What’s the weather like today?/ How is the weather today?
B:It's sunny.

- Master new words and sentences.
- Talk about weather in English in real life.

Teaching methods: Practice teaching method, Communicative teaching method, Situational teaching method. etc.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Warming up
Let Ss watch an English weather report firstly, then ask Ss to say out what they’ve got from the video.
Step 2 Leading in
- T shows a picture about 24h weather report in China. Then T leads Ss to study “weather report”. Ask Ss to spell and recite “weather report.’
- T:What can you see in the picture?
Ss: We can see the sun, cloud, rain, snow......
T leads Ss to review the following words: sun,, cloud, rain, snow, wind
Step 3 Presentation
- Each icon represents one kind of weather. The sun represents sunny. Lead Ss to study “sunny”. Ss should spell and write “sunny”.
- T leads Ss to study the new words “windy, cloudy, rainy , snowy” by the same way.
- Let Ss read the five words together. And let Ss notice the letter “y”. T explains the function of “y”.
- Sing the song
Sunny, sunny. It’s sunny.
Windy, windy. It’s windy.
Cloudy, cloudy. It’s cloudy.
Rainy, rainy. It’s rainy.
Snowy, snowy. It’s snowy.
- Let Ss finish Part A Look and circle. T helps Ss to get familiar with the following sentences.
“What’s the weather like today?”
Ask Ss to read the sentence repeatedly in one breathe.
- Pair work
Ss should make a dialogue with their partners.
e.g. A: What’s the weather like today?
B: It's sunny.
- Sing the song in groups.
What’s the weather like today?
Sunny, sunny. It’s sunny.
Windy, windy. It’s windy.
Cloudy, cloudy. It’s cloudy.
Rainy, rainy. It’s rainy.
Snowy, snowy. It’s snowy.
- Show a picture with the moon and stars, then lead Ss to study “moon” and “star”.
Step 4 Consolidation
- Ss read the new words together.
- Fast response.
T shows pictures in one second, Ss say out the words quickly.
- Let Ss master “How is the weather in ....today?” Then fill the table in page 37 with icons.
- Pair work.
Make a dialogue with your partner.
A: How is the weather in Changni today?
B: It’s rainy.
- Play a game.
Ss asks the weather one by one. Such as, S1 makes a question and asks S2 to answers. Then S2 makes a question and asks S3 to answer.
Step 5 Exercise
Let Ss look at Listen and tick in Part C. Ss listen to the tape, then finish the table.
Step 6 Homework
- Review the words.
- Talk about the weather in English.
