To travel abroad, we often meet the problem of what to take and how to take it. Take as little as possible. Choose clothes for your use in different kinds of situations and when you have made your final choice, take half of it! It's always a big problem to take too many things, and anyway if necessary, you can buy what you need in America. Things like jeans, Tshirts and other clothes are good buys in the US. If you hunt around you can usually find something on sale.
Whatever baggage(行李) you take, make sure it is easy to take. Getting on and off buses and trains, even just changing planes, can be a test if your bags are too heavy or too many. The best way is to take one holdall, like a suitcase or a backpack, and then a smaller bag. Even when you have to check in your holdall, at the airport or bus station, you can keep all your money and documents(文件) by your side. It is also a good idea to keep a change of clothing in your shoulder bag in case your suitcase or backpack gets lost by an airline or a bus company.
The means you choose to travel around the US will depend on your money, your time and something else. Since there are certain discounts available to travelers who buy their tickets outside the US, it is a good idea to make travel plans before you go. Also, when you buy your tickets outside the US, you save the eight percent sales tax. Travel is like everything else in America—you have to shop around for the best buy. Never be afraid to ask for the cheapest fare. The clerk seldom offers you the cheapest one.
28.What is the writer's idea about what to take while travelling abroad?
A. Take as many clothes as possible.
B. Take as few things as you can.
C. Take only your tickets and money.
D. Take whatever you can use in different situations.
29.The writer thinks travelers had better put their money and documents in ________.
A. a suitcase B.a backpack
C. a shoulder bag D.a coat pocket
30.From the last paragraph we can learn that ________.
A. travelling around the US will cost you little money
B. clerks always show you the cheapest things
C. asking prices is not good manners in the US
D. buying tickets outside the US is cheaper
31.The passage is mainly about some advice about ________.
A. travelling in America B. shopping in America
C. the means to travel around the US D. the ways to save money in the US
D
In conversation, body language is more important than you might think. Only 7% of our communication is expressed in words. How can we appear calm and confident?
First of all, try to keep still. The old belief that we make up our minds about someone within the first ten seconds of meeting them is untrue. It's within onetenth of a second! Therefore, when meeting someone for the first time, try to avoid any small, repetitive (重复的) movements. Take slow, deep breaths and try to keep as still as possible. Your words will hold more importance and you can get your ideas heard without unnecessary body language.
Smile is a powerful gesture(姿态;手势), even when you're on your own. When others see you smile, a similar reaction takes place and they begin to feel happier and more relaxed. And it does use fewer muscles to smile than to frown. Practise “smiseing” (smiling with your eyes) too, as this will help your big smile look more genuine.
When we suffer from anxiety (焦虑), our heart rate increases, our chest feels tight and we can't seem to catch our breath properly. In this case, practise breathing rhythmically and finally the rest of your body will relax and you will immediately appear calmer.
You may have heard of the power pose -- stand with your legs far apart with your hands on your hips(臀部). This might help you feel at ease, and you'll appear calmer and more confident.
32.When you meet someone for the first time, you'd better .
A. avoid any body language B. keep as still as possible
C. repeat small movements D. speak out your ideas
33.Why are you advised to practise “smiseing”?
A. Because you are on your own.
B. Because you will be more important.
C. Because it helps you look more genuine.
D. Because it helps you make up your mind.
34.What happens when you feel anxious?
A. You may breathe rhythmically.
B. You will catch your breath properly.
C. Your body will relax immediately.
D. Your heart may beat violently.
35.What does the underlined word “pose” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A. Posture(姿势). B. Language.
C. Concern. D. Signal(信号).
第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Everybody worries. 36 But what should you do about it? Whether your worries are big or small, you can take these 3 steps:
Figure it out
Sometimes, you will know exactly what you're worried about. 37 Let's say you're worried about a teacher who seems mean. But maybe what's really worrying you is that you're having trouble with maths. If you get some help with maths, that teacher might seem just fine.
38
There is always something you can do to help you feel less worried. Sitting there worrying is no fun and it probably won't solve your problem. 39
But what if you can't think of anything to do to make your particular problem better? Then it's time to jump to Step 3.
Ask for help
Worrying can make you feel lonely. 40 You don't know for sure that no one can help until you share your feelings and let the person try to help.
A. A final word about worry.
B. Think of ways to make it better.
C. Grown-ups do it and kids do it, too.
D. Afterwards, you are no longer alone with your worries.
E. When you're worried, it can help to find someone to talk to.
F. But turning to an action can help you feel more hopeful.
G. Other times, you might not know exactly what's worrying you.

During my life there are many people who impressed me deeply. But my English teacher Miss Zhao is the most impressive woman in my eyes.
Miss Zhao is a warmhearted lady with a charming smile on her face. As a teacher, she is ready to help those students in need. Besides, she is strict with us and responsible for her work. There was story after story of how Miss Zhao, tired after a day's work, went late at night to grade our papers. Under her guidance, I became interested in English. Without her help, I couldn't have made rapid progress.
Such is Miss Zhao, an excellent teacher who makes a deep impression on me and wins my respect.
