    1. Answer the questins in Pre-reading, talk abut sme bands and try t predict the cntent f the text.
    2. Read and understand the text and catch as much infrmatin as pssible and try t summarise the main idea f each paragraph.

    Step 1 Revisin
    Task Revise sme the different types f music.
    Step 2 Pre-reading
    Task 1 Answer the three questins, talk abut the bands they knw and intrduce Mnkees.
    The Mnkee is a band with 4-persn that was very ppular in the 1960S in America and as well as a TV shw f the same name and it mdeled n “The Beatles”. The band used techniques rarely seen n TV at that time. Nw it is still ppular in the wrld tday. This band wh first sang the sng is “Bubblegum”.
    Task 2 Lk at the pictures and the title f the reading passage and predict the cntent.
    Pssible answers: An intrductin t the Mnkees.
    Step 3 Fast Reading
    Task 1 Scan the text as quickly as pssible and jin the crrect parts f the sentences tgether.
    Crrect answers: 1. D 2. C 3. A 5. E 6. B
    The main idea f the passage: The stry f the Mnkees tells ut that success lies in hard wrk.
    Task 2 Read the text again and answer the fllwing questins.
    1. What are the advantages if peple frm a band t play in the street?
    They can earn sme extra mney and this can als give them a chance t realize their dream f being famus.
    2. When did “The Mnkees” break up and when did it reunite?
    “The Mnkees” brke up in abut 1970 and it reunited in the Mid-1980.
    3. Why was “The Mnkees” successful in their wrk?
    Because they were serius abut their wrk and they als wrked very hard.
    Task 3 Read each paragraph carefully and try t cnclude the main idea f each paragraph in pairs r in grups. Have a discussin t get the right main idea fr each paragraph. (Analyse the first paragraph as an example and tell the Ss they can use their wn wrds.)
    Main idea f each paragraph:
    Paragraph 1: dreaming f being famus musician r singer.
    (r Many peple want t be famus as singers r musicians.)
    Paragraph 2: Hw musicians frm bands. (r This is hw mst bands start.)
    Paragraph 3: Hw the Mnkees gt their start. (r The Mnkees started in a different way.)
    Paragraph 4: Hw the Mnkees became serius abut music business.
    (r Hw the mnkees became ppular and hw they develped as a real band.)
    Step 4 Listening and Retelling
    Task 1 Listen t the tape t the tape t get a better understanding f the text.
    Task 2 Try t retell the stry.

    If we are hnest with urselves, mst f us have dreamed f being famus smetimes in ur lives. Mst musicians ften meet and frmed a band. Smetimes they play in the street t passers-by s that they can earn sme extra mney and this als gives them a chance t realize their dreams. There was nce a band started in a different way. The musicians f whm the band was frmed played jkes n each ther as well as played music, whse music and jkes were lsely based n “The Beatles”. Their exciting perfrmances were cpied by ther grups. “The Mnkees” played their wn instruments and wrte their wn music. Thugh it brke up in 1970, it reunited in the mid-1980s and it is still ppular tday.
    Task 3 Teacher cnslidate the main cntents f the text.
