1、 能掌握以下单词:

2、能掌握文章中的重点短语和句子
1.Let the students think of what they know about Christmas and discuss in groups..
2.Say something about Christmas.
3.Let the students read 2b quickly and answer the questions.
4.Check the answers.
4.Read again and try to understand the following sentences:
1) Many would agree that when we think of Christmas, we probably think of gifts, Christmas trees and Santa Claus.
2) But behind all these things lies the true meaning of Christmas: the importance of sharing and giving love and joy to people around us.
3) A Christmas is a famous short novel written by Charles Dickens
4) He is mean and only thinks about himself. He doesn’t treat others nicely.
5) He warns Scrooge to change his ways if he doesn’t want to end up like him.
6) The ghost of Christmas Past takes him back to his childhood and reminds Scrooge of his happier days as a child.
7).He is so scared that he wakes up in his bed and finds out it is only the next morning—Christmas Day.
8) He decides to change his life and promises to be a better person.
9).He happily celebrates Christmas with his relatives. He also gives gifts to people in need.
10.) He now treats everyone with kindness and warmth, spreading love and joy everywhere he goes. And that’s the true spirit of Christmas!

教学过程
Step1. Revision
Review the words and sentences learnt in last period and then have a dictation.
Step 2New words
Learn the new words:haunted, ghost, trick, treat, spider, Christmas, lie-lay-lain, novel, eve, dead-death-die-dying, business, punish, warn, end up, present; warmth; spread;
Step3 Discussion
Discuss the items in 1a and check the statements that are true for you.
Let the students look at the pictures and words related to Halloween and discuss what this festival is about?
2.Say something about Halloween.
Step4. Listening
1.Listen to the tape and finish the task in 1b and 1c.
2.Check the answers.
Step5Discussion
Let the students think about the Halloween activities that interest them most,and then make conversations with a partner.
Pay attention to the sentences:
What do you like most about the festival? I think it’s fun to dress up as cartoon characters!.
