The whle earth lks like a garden with beautiful, happy peple called Eli wh play all the time, but this hides a hrrible truth; there is a whle wrld f peple called Mrlcks wh live undergrund in a dark, mechanised sciety wh use the Eli as a surce f fd. The Time Traveller meets an Eli wman and falls in lve with her. The Time Traveller and the Eli wman are attacked by Mrlcks. He is able t escape, but he lses cntact with the wman and perhaps she is killed. The Mrlcks then steal the Time Machine and use it as bait t capture and kill the Time Traveller. Hwever, nce he is in the Time Machine, he pulls the lever and begins t travel in time again and is able t make his escape. He travels 30 millin years int the future t see the sun cl and the earth turn int a lifeless planet. He then travels back t the time frm where he started ut, nly t find that three hurs have passed.(4)学生活动:结合活动5当中的问题,就如何深化自创故事的现实意义展开讨论。

第一步:组员分工,设置不同身份与工作任务,包括组织者(负责组织小组讨论)、科学家(专注习作中的科学现象)、哲学家(专注习作中涉及文化、哲理等方面的内容)、文学家(专注习作中文学修辞手法的应用)和语言学家(帮助组员减少语言错误,完善语言表达)等。
第二步:根据各自的身份与角色,逐一对作品进行阅读分析,提出修改完善作品的意见。
每组推选一篇作品进行展示,师生共同点评,可就故事的新颖性、语言的感染力等对作品进行多角度的评价。各组根据评价进一步完善作品。

I thught this summer vacatin at Aunt Jenny's wuld g as interesting as watching paint dry. Hers was an ld huse, built befre time began, it seemed. One hundred years ag it was ften filled with peple cming t stay fr the summer-it was such large, grand huse that there wuld be thirty r frty guests at a time, and the hst barely knew wh sme f them were. Then there was the hst himself-my great grandfather. He was widely thught f as the smartest, funniest man f his age, and peple wuld cme frm all ver the wrld t see him.
But that was all in the past. Nw the nly persn wh lived here was Aunt Jenny, wh lived in ne small part f the huse and kept the rest clsed up. Then I caught the sun shining in my eyes frm a tall mirrr in the hallway.
"Hw pretty! It must be a hundred years ld. If nly I culd g back and see my great grandfather! "I said, cleaning the dirt ff the mirrr with my hand. Suddenly, the shiny mirrr became a sea f cluds and I felt myself being pulled inside it. The wrld began t spin, and I felt cnfused.
Then, just like that, everything stpped. I lked arund, and there I was with the mirrr and in the same hall, but things were different. The family phts n the wall were nw replaced by paintings f peple I did nt recgnise. The furniture all lked new but ld-fashined at the same time. "I must be ne hundred years int the past!" I thught t myself. Then a wman wearing ld-fashined clthing came dwn the hall. Drawing near, she frwned and said, "Oh, that wn't d! The party starts in twenty minutes and yu are still in casual clthes! What? Yu didn't bring anything? I've gt a lvely dress yu can brrw. I think it will just fit. "She led me away t her rm and helped me get dressed like I was an ld friend, and then tgether we went dwn t the parlur, which was filled with peple dressed in fine clthes gathering arund my great grandfather, listening t every wrd he said.
I spent the summer there, pretending t be a distant cusin frm the city wh was there n hliday. N ne seemed t mind r care, as my great grandfather was quite wealthy and always had lts f guests. I tried t spend as much time as pssible with my great grandfather and his friends, and it was the mst wnderful time f my life. Then when the end f summer drew near, I went back t the mirrr and rubbed it with my hand again. I fund myself back in the same hall, but in mdern time. Nt a minute had passed. Then I realised that I still had a full summer ahead at bring Aunt Jenny's. "Nw what am I ging t d?" I asked myself.
