In Chinese cities, food deliverymen are often seen riding at full speed through busy traffic. They rushed from restaurants to different destinations, even under bad weather conditions.

The article The Food Deliverymen Are Trapped in the App pointed out that on food delivery service platforms, Eleme and Meituan, the time limit and the route for each delivery order is calculated by an algorithm算法.But the algorithm doesn't consider real-life situations, such as red lights, speed limits and fully occupied elevators.

The time limit for a delivery order within 2 kilometers is 30 minutes, even shorter in recent years. Delay could mean a fine. So deliverymen rev up, often breaking traffic rules, putting their own lives at risk.              ,

Many people asked the platforms to improve the regulations imposed 强加 on the deliverymen. In response to this demand, Eleme announced it would add a button to the app, which allowed customers to extend the time limits for their orders, and encouraged customers to show more respect for deliverymen. But some people felt that the company was staying away from the problem and changing people's attention. Some held the view that the company was putting the responsibility on the customers rather than solving the problem itself.

As to delivery delays, solutions are far from enough. As a matter of fact, when a delivery delay happens and the company can* t reach an agreement with the customer on the responsibility, the deliveryman is usually the final one responsible for the delay. The Shanghai Customer Council commented that it was unfair for the deliveryman to be the only side responsible for a delay and problems should be solved between the companies and their employees. Besides, market regulatory departments should stop companies from setting tight schedules for their deliverymen and keep them safe on the roads.

    1.    What does the underlined expression "rev up” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?

    A. Run away. B. Speed up.

    C. Wander around. D. Slow down.

    1.   Who actually gets the blame for a delivery delay?

    A. The Customer Council. B. The customer.

    C. The company. D. The deliveryman.

    1.   What did the Shanghai Customer Council advise market regulatory departments to do?
    1.   Set tight schedules for more orders.
    2.   Solve the problems of delivery delays with the customers.
    3.   Stop companies from setting tight schedules for their employees.
    4.   Employ more deliverymen for the delivery companies.
    1.   What's the text mainly about?
    1.   The customers' rights should be protected.
    2.   Food delivery regulations need improvement.
    3.   Food deliverymen take risks on their way.
    4.   Delivery platforms earn more than before.

    D

Arizona State University mathematician Sebastien Motsch and his colleagues wanted to know if ants on the move could also get jammed like humans. So they conducted an experiment on ants to see what would happen to the ants when there were too many of them at the same time.

They controlled the density of the ants by constructing bridges of various widths between their colony and the source of food. When the ants went through a bridge, the density of them did increase initially but the flow never slowed down, even when more and more ants filled the bridge. And then the flow leveled off at high densities.

Motsch and his team found that when the ants sensed overcrowding, they adjusted their speeds and avoided entering high-density areas. These behaviors may be made with some chemicals that told other ants where an available road was. The ants also managed to avoided colliding 碰撞with each other at high densities,

"The goal was to try to find out at what point they were going to have a traffic jam. But it seemed that it never happened. They never, at one point, just stopped. They always managed to avoid traffic jams.” Said Sebastien Motsch.

Can ants help us solve our own traffic problems? Not likely, according to Sebastien Motsch. That's because when it comes to getting from point A to point B as fast as possible, human drivers put their own goals first. Individual ant has to be more cooperative in order to feed the colony. But the research could be useful in improving traffic flow for automatic driving cars, which can be designed to be less like selfish humans, but more like ants.

    1.   Why did Sebastien Motsch and his colleagues do the experiment?
    1.   To find out how ants found the source of food.
    2.   To find out how ants built their colony.
    3.   To find out whether ants have traffic jams.
    4.   To find out whether ants communicated with each other.
    1.   How did the researchers control the density of the ants between their colony and the source of food?

    A. By making traffic jams. B. By attracting them with different foods.

    C. By driving some ants off the bridges. D. By constructing bridges of different widths.

    1.   What did the ants probably do when they sensed overcrowding?

    A. They tried to find anotherroad. B. They returned to their colony.

    C. They were in a mess. D. They kept their speed.

    1.   Why does Sebastien Motsch think humans are not likely to solve traffic problems like ants?

    A. Because they are selfish. B. Because they are cooperative.

    C. Because they have no automatic driving cars. D. Because they travel too fast.

    第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)

    根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余

    选项。

Anyone can book a trip, but not everyone can plan the best adventure that is affordable and fun. If you want to do it better, the places to stay in for the nights must be chosen carefully. 36

Check distances on a map. It's common for hotels to slightly exaggerate 夸大their closeness to attractions around town. They will not tell you the true distance. If being close to a particular airport is important for your trip, you' d better confirm the distance on Google Map before you book a hotel.

37 A little niceness goes a long way, especially with the hotel staff who have to deal with difficult guests on a regular basis. When you check in, simply say hello to the cleaning staff when you pass them in the hall. This is not only common politeness, but it also increases your chances of getting incidental benefit during your stay.

Give up the package deals套餐"To appeal to new guests, some hotels will offer themed package deals. 38 Sometimes these packages include things you don* t want or need and the special prices could be higher than the regular ones.

Ask about parking. 39 You'd better look for a hotel offering free parking. If you have to afford the expensive parking, apps like Best Parking can help you find nearby parking lots at lower prices. As parking costs really go up, if not necessary, we suggest you take a taxi or a bus from the hotel to travel around the city rather than travel in your own car. 40

    1.   Be polite to the staff.
    2.    Pay attention to difficult guests.
    3.    They are quite cheap but taste bad.
    4.   In this way you can save much money.
    5.    In a self-driving travel, parking may cost a lot.
    6.    They are attractive but may not be good value for money.
    7.   Here are some tips about hotels that we'd like to share with you.
