There are 6,909 languages actively being spken in the wrld tday, althugh nly abut six percent f them have mre than a millin speakers each. Peple in many different cuntries see the value f learning a freign language t imprve their internatinal business relatins. Because f this, the number f peple wh speak certain languages will cntinue t rise. There are sme languages that currently dminate the glbe.
With mre than 1.3 billin peple living in China tday, it is n surprise that Chinese is the mst cmmnly spken language. Due t the size f China’s area and ppulatin, the cuntry is able t sustain many unique and interesting languages. When speaking f languages, the term “Chinese” cntains at least 15 dialects (方言) spken in the cuntry and elsewhere. While Spanish is nt a cmmnly heard language in mst parts f Africa, Asia, and the majrity f Eurpe, that hasn’t stpped it frm becming the secnd mst cmmnly spken language. The spread f the Spanish language is rted in clnizatin (殖民). If yu culd time travel, wuld yu visit the past r the future? Yu culd find yur ancestrs, descendants, r experience life when dinsaurs wandered yur back garden. It sunds therwrldly, but scientists have lked int whether time travel is actually pssible.
Albert Einstein’s thery f relativity changed understanding f space, time, mass and gravity. The key element f this thery is that time and space are linked tgether, and time desn’t flw at a cnstant rate, meaning it speeds up r slws dwn, depending n where yu are. Fr example, when yu travel at high speeds, time decreases, which means, accrding t NASA, astrnauts in space mving at high speeds age mre slwly than thse n Earth! S, if yu wanted t travel t the future, yu wuld need t mve clse t the speed f light. Then, while centuries pass n Earth, yu’d experience a relatively shrt amunt f time and culd hypthetically (假设地) return hme, where it wuld be the future!
Travelling backwards in time seems much mre difficult. Theretically, ne way f ging back is via a wrmhle. That means, if space and time can be flded like paper, we culd create a tunnel — a shrtcut between pints in time. The prblem is that there is n evidence that wrmhles exist. “It’s been shwn mathematically that they can exist, but whether they exist physically is smething else,” says Emma Osbrne, an astrphysicist at the University f Yrk. Als, theries shw that wrmhles wuld be s small that a persn definitely culdn’t fit thrugh ne, and they wuld have such an intense gravitatinal field that they wuld cllapse very quickly.
Fr nw, it seems we’ll have t be cntent with science fictin and using telescpes t lk back in time rather than travelling thrugh it.
    12. Why des the writer mentin Einstein’s thery f relativity?
    A. T explain hw time travel might wrk.
    B. T stress the imprtance f time travel.
    C. T describe Einstein’s cntributins t science.
    D. Ty encurage us t wrk ut the thery.
    13. Why d astrnauts age mre slwly than thse n earth?
    A. Time flws at the same speed acrss the universe.
    B. Mving faster slws the passage f time.
    C. Speed and space are clsely cnnected.
    D. The speed f light prevents their aging.
    14. Why des travelling backwards in time seem much mre difficult?
    A. Wrmhles mve faster than the speed f light.
    B. Scientists have nt studied time travel t the past.
    C. Wrmhles lack scientific evidence f existence.
    D. The speed f light nly allws frward mvement in time.
    15. What is the authr’s attitude regarding the pssibility f time travel?
    A. Indifferent.B. Dubtful.C. Objective.D. Psitive.

She knew he was 10 days ld at the time f the earthquake, but wasn’t sure hw many days she had been trapped.
This stry has an even happier ending, as when she arrived at that hspital, Camuz was given the news that her husband and 3-year-ld sn had als survived. They had been in a separate rm f the apartment when the earthquake struck and had been taken t a different hspital after sustaining injuries t their legs and feet. While the family has lst their hme, they have nw been reunited after this frightening experience.
Miracles are cntinuing t happen. Ten days after the earthquake, rescuer Mehmet Eryilma pulled a wman named Ela and her tw children frm the ruins f a cllapsed apartment in Turkey’s Hatay prvince.
As always, these stries give hpe that there are many peple still waiting t be rescued. But nce pulled frm the ruins, there is a hard rad ahead as peple lst their hmes, and many have als lst their families. If yu are lking fr a way t help, cnsider giving mney t Glbal Giving’s earthquake fund.
