Eric Carle, the authr and artist behind The Very Hungry Caterpillar and dzens f ther children’s bks, has passed away at the age f 91. Mr. Carle’s lively, creative and clrful wrks were lved by children arund the wrld.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar was Mr. Carle’s best-knwn bk. It was published in 1969. Mr. Carle was brn in Syracuse, New Yrk in 1929. His parents were German. As he was grwing up, Mr. Carle spent a lt f time with his father, wh wuld take him ut walking in nature. His father wuld shw him small creatures, explaining their life cycles and filling the yung by’s head with wnder.
