    “That” refers t “the peple” in sentence (a)
    “Wh” refers t “peple” in sentence (b).
    3 What is the difference between the tw grups f sentences?
    Sentences (a) and (b) bth cntain a clause defining (定义) a nun in each sentence. Sentences (c) and (d) are each cnstructed with a pair f simple sentences, with ne defining a nun that appears in the ther sentence in each pair.
    4 Why des the authr chse t use sentences (a) and (b) in the reading passage?
    Because there is a clser link and cnnectin between “peple” and the clause defining it in sentences (a) and (b). It als makes the passage clearer, and creates an emphatic(强调的) effect n the peple r things being defined.

    Other wrds used t intrduce attributive clauses include "which","whm" and "whse". They can refer t an bject r a thing, a persn as the bject f an actin and the relatinship f belnging.
    在复合句中作定语修饰名词或代词的从句,叫作定语从句。它所修饰的名词或代词叫作先行词。一、构成 先行词+ 关系词 +定语从句

    1. Definitin (定义)
    定语从句是用来充当定语的句子,它主要用于修饰句子中的 ,位于被修饰的名词和代词 。翻译为 ,作用相当于一个 词。P84
    结构:先行词+关系词+从句的其它部分

    二、分类定语从句分为限制性定语从句与非限制定语从句三、关系词被定语从句修饰的词叫作先行词;连接先行词与从句的词叫关系词。关系词不仅在先行词与定语从句之间起连接作用,而且也充当定语从句中的一个成分。关系词是总称,具体分为:关系代词:wh, whm, whse, that, which, as关系副词:when, where, why, that

    引导定语从句的关系代词

    常见的关系代词有______,______,_______,_______ 和________,常在从句中充当_______,________和________。
    用正确的关系代词/副词填空。

    1. which指物,在定语从句中作主语或宾语,作宾语时常可省略。
    (1) The bys wh are playing ftball are frm Class One. (2) A persn wh steals things is called a thief.(3) That's the girl (wh) I teach.
    2. wh指人,作主语或宾语(作宾语可省略)。
    wh和whm都用于指代人,wh往往可以代替whm在从句中担任宾语,但前面有介词时必须用whm,即“介词 + whm”。
    (1) The man (whm/wh) I talked t is Mr. Li.(2) The man t whm I talked is Mr. Li.
    3. whm指人,作宾语(作宾语可省略,若介词提前则不能省)。
    (1) Where is the man (that/whm) I saw this mrning?(2) The persn (that/whm) yu intrduced t me is very kind.   (3) The seasn that/which cmes after spring is summer.   (4) Yesterday I received a letter that/which came frm Australia.  
    4. that指人时,相当于wh或whm;指物时,相当于which。在定语从句中作主语或宾语,作宾语时常可省略。
    (1) He has a friend whse father is a dctr.(2) I talked with the man whse huse was destryed in the fld.(3) The classrm whse dr is brken will sn be repaired.(4) D yu like the bk whse cver is yellw?
    5. whse在定语从句中作定语,与后面的名词为 所属关系。whse既可指人,也可指物。
    1. that和which在指物的情况下一般都可以互换, 但在下列情况下,一般用that而不用which。
    ① I am sure she has smething that yu can brrw. ② D yu have anything that yu dn't understand?
    我肯定她有你可以借的东西。
    (1) 先行词为all, everything, nthing, smething, anything, little, much等不定代词
    ① This is the first bk (that) he has read. ② This is the best film (that) I have ever seen.
    这是我看过的最好的电影。
    (2) 先行词被序数词或最高级修饰
    ① They talked abut the persns and things that they remembered. ② Lk at the man and his dnkey that are walking up the street.
    他们谈论他们记得的人和事。
    你看那人和他的驴,正走在街上。
    (3) 先行词既有人又有物
    ① I've read all the bks that are written by him. ② This is the very bk that belngs t him.
    (4) 先行词被all, every, n, sme, any, little, much, the nly, the very, the last, just, right等修饰。
    ① Wh is the girl that drve the car? ② Which is the T-shirt that fits me mst?
    (5) 先行词是wh或which引导的主句中。
    2. that和wh在指人的情况下一般都可以互换,但在 下列情况下,一般用wh而不用that。
    ① Thse wh want t g t the cinema will have t wait at the gate f the schl. ② Anyne wh breaks the laws shuld be punished.③ I've tld all wh will attend the meeting.
    那些想去看电影的人将不得不在学校门口等候。
    任何违反法律的人都应该受到惩罚。
    (1) 当先行词是ne, nes, anybdy, anyne, all, nne 等不定代词和thse时。
    我已经通知所有与会人员。

    (2) 当先行词有较长后置定语时

    (3) 一个句子中带有两个定语从句时,其中一个定语从句的关系代词是that,另一个用wh。
