Themes ranged frm lcal pinins—such as the usage f Singlish, educatin and whether Singapre can be a cultural centre—t fd blgs.
The entries were judged n language prficiency (熟练程度) and the quality f writing, as well as the design and level f exchanging ideas with readers.
Academics frm the Natinal University f Singapre and the SIM University, IT experts, and a jurnalist frm Chinese newspaper Lianhe Zaba in Singapre made up the judges.
In the end, nly three Singaprean students made it t the award list—the rest f the awards were swept up by students frm China.
"N surprise,” said Mr. Chw Yaw Lng, 37, teacher-in-charge frm Innva Junir Cllege, which rganized the event. “Althugh the tpics were lcal subjects, the freign students were generally better in terms f the cntent f the psts and their grasp f the Chinese language.”
One f the three lcal students winning the first prize in the Best Language Award was blgger Christina Ga, 19, frm the Saint Andrew’s Junir Cllege, wh spared n effrt in researching fr and writing her blg. Each entry tk her between five and seven days t prduce, cmplete with pictures and even pdcasts (播客).
Her advice fr blggers is: Be respnsible.
