Period 5(Section B 3a-Self Check)设计说明 本节课通过检查作业,复习上节课所学课文,检查学生对所学知识的掌握情况。通过看录像,引入加入志愿者活动的话题,从而导入新课的学习,并且激发学生对话题讨论的热情,为下一步的话题写作做好准备。在写作过程中,让学生对所写的内容充分了解,通过写作指导及例文展示,降低写作难度,让学生不再害怕写作文;在小组谈论参加志愿者活动中,让学生体会到自己对社会的责任,思考如何发挥自己的优势为别人提供帮助,能意识到尽自己所能帮助他人是一种美德。教学目标 1. 知识目标 (1)掌握单词:interest,sir,madam,复习本单元的重点词汇。 (2)掌握句型:①I want to volunteer as...②I’m strong in...③I’m free to help in/on... (3)学会写一篇关于做志愿者的文章。 (4)复习学过的短语动词;复习动词不定式的用法。 2. 能力目标 能够用英语表述常见的志愿活动,并就自己喜欢的志愿活动发表看法,完成一封想成为志愿者的自荐信。 3. 情感目标 使学生在谈论参加志愿者活动中,体会到自己对社会的责任,思考如何发挥自己的优势为别人提供帮助,能意识到尽自己所能帮助他人是一种美德。重点难点 1. 重点: (1)掌握本课时出现的生词及用法。 (2)掌握本单元出现的重点句型,并用重点句型完成自荐信。 (3)复习学过的短语动词;复习动词不定式的用法。 2. 难点: 学会写一篇关于做志愿者的文章。教学准备 1. 准备有关志愿者活动的录像。 2. 准备多媒体课件。教学过程 Step 1 Warming up & Leading in T:Good morning,boys and girls! First let’s check your homework. Please look at 2c on page 15. S1:group(n.):A group of boys are playing on the play- ground. S2:disabled(adj.):We should help disabled people. ... T:Well done. Now let’s review the letter. Please look at the passage. Fill in the blanks with the proper words. Ben Smith is a disabled man. He has many difficulties in his life. He can’t use his arms or legs well. Some normal things like answering the telephone,opening and closing doors,or carrying things are difficult for him. But Lucky,a“dog helper”,makes a big difference to his life. Lucky is a fantastic dog. He’s very clever and understands many English words. He can understand his owner when the owner gives him orders. Step 2 Presentation T:Now,class. Let’s watch a video about volunteering. T:Do you want to join them? Ss:Yes. T:What are they doing? S1:They are making dumplings. T:Where are they? S2:They are in an old people’s home. T:Yes. They are volunteers in an old people’s home. Step 3 Writing Work on 3a. 1. Look at these kinds of volunteer work. Read together. 2. Write down at least 5 other kinds of volunteer work. Then read them in your group. Work on 3b. 1. Read the questions in the chart. 2. Answer the questions using the sentence structures in the chart. S1:I’d like to help to clean up the city parks. S2:I’m interested in visiting sick kids to cheer them up. S3:I want to volunteer as an English teacher. 3. Choose your favorite volunteer work,and make a conversation about it with your partner. A:Which volunteer job do you want to do? B:I’d like to help kids at an after-school program. /I want to volunteer as a teacher at an after-school program. A:What are your interests and hobbies? B:I’m good at English. / In my free time,I like to speak English. / I’m strong in speaking English. A:How can these help you to do the job? B:I can help practice English with the kids. /I can help the kids read English stories. A:Why do you want to do the volunteer job? B:I’m good at talking with kids. /I like to talk with kids. A:When are you free to do the job? B:I’m free to help on weekends. 4. Step 4 Self Check a. Revise the phrasal verbs. Look at the screen: 1. Choose the right phrase. Step 5 Cooperative inquiry Discuss the following language points in groups and fill in the blanks. 1.(1)interest作名词,意为“兴趣”,常见短语have/take an interest in sth. 意为“对……有兴趣”。 (2)interest 作及物动词,意为“使感兴趣,使关注”。常见短语interest sb. in sth. 意为“使某人在某方面感兴趣”。 (3)interested是形容词,常用短语be interested in意为“对……感兴趣”;interesting也是形容词,意为“有趣的”。 约翰对历史感兴趣。 John is interested in history. 这个故事很有趣。 The story is very interesting. 2. be free to do sth. 意为“有空做某事”,相当于have time to do sth. 。 Are you free to help(help)me with my homework?
