M: N. I dn’t have any friends r relatives there. My friends Mark and Henry suggested we visit Playa Jibaca there. I’m a great beach lver, s I agreed t g there with them.
W: Is it a ppular beach in Cuba?
M: I dn’t think s. Actually nt many turists knw abut Playa Jibaca yet. And that’s why we
decided t g t it. We dn’t want t visit a crwded beach.
W: S hw can yu get t the beach?
M: There are n public buses r trains that g there. S after getting t Havana, we’ll drive there. W: S hw many days will yu spend there?

M: Jennifer, had yu studied writing befre yu became a writer?
W: Yes. I did a unit called “The Art f Writing” as part f my undergraduate degree at Mi University. But it was nt really enugh t prepare ne t be a writer.
M: S what else helped yu becme a writer?
W:I think studying literature in university was helpful. As a student f literature, ne learns abut writing by experiencing writing first hand. Als, reading helped t. After getting my PhD, I
became a university lecturer. I read widely abut creative writing.
M: Did yu read in rder t becme a writer?
W: Nt really. I just wanted t becme a better teacher f literature. Later I ended up teaching a curse n creative writing at Daystar University. All f these experiences helped me becme a creative writer.

W: Nt really. Nw I’ve a family t take care f. But Henry is very supprtive. He smetimes takes ur kids ut s that I can write.

M: Yes. I knw smething abut it. Alexander the Great established the city mre than 2, 000

W: It’s a really ld city.
M: Yu can say s. It has survived invasins, fires and earthquakes in the past 2, 000 years. But nw Alexandria faces severe flding frm rising waters blamed n climate change.
W: That’s really bad. It’s such an imprtant city.
M: Yes. It is Egypt’s secnd largest city, with mre than 5 millin peple. It is als an imprtant prt and hme t abut 40 percent f Egypt’s industrial activity. But the city is surrunded n three sides by the Mediterranean Sea and sits next t a lake. With climate change, it nw is ften stricken by flds.
W: I heard it experienced a natural disaster in 2015.
M: That’s true. Large parts f the city were flded. At least six peple were killed in the flding, which als destryed many hmes.
W: I’m afraid many castal cities will disappear in the future.
M: I agree. But it’s nt t late yet.

M: I mean humans can still save the cities by preventing climate change. Nw I ften encurage my students t help prtect Earth in class.
