It was ht,and I sat dwn and swung my legs ver the edge, int the cl water. Paulie struggled t tie the string t ne f the slippery fish. Then he slid the extra fish int the bucket and set it in the dark water under the dck fr later.
“Here,” Paulie handed me the baited string. “Dangle (提着) this dwn in the water t call the crabs.”
Crabs lve smelly, ld fish,s ur first crab didn't take lng t cme. Its big claw clamped (紧夹住) the bait, and I raised the string real slw s Paulie culd net it. But my legs swishing (发出刷刷声) in the water startled that crab, and it let g and flated back t the bttm like a leaf ff a tree. Paulie brught up the net and std there with the handle n the dck.
“Kathy, I can't believe yu're ging t be in third grade and can't sit still fr ne minute,” he said.
“And I can't believe yu're ging t be in sixth grade and haven't caught any crabs yet.”
I went back t dangling the fish.

We raced t give Dad the crabs. “Wha!” he said. “Yu caught a lt!” I lked at Paulie. “Yes!” we muthed silently t each ther with huge grins.
