Nw peple are aware f that and wrking t slve this hermit crab husing shrtage. They are teaching beach-Bers t leave seashells where they belng—at the seashre! Sme peple even make fake seashells that they hpe the hermit crab will like. Fr example,a grup called Prject Shelter invited peple wh visited their website t create different designs fr hermit crab shells.
These designers had a lt t cnsider. What kind f material shuld be used t build seashells? The material must be light enugh fr the hermit crab t carry, but strng enugh t prtect the crab frm attackers. The man-made shells culd nt cntain glue r any ther substance(物质) that might harm the hermit crab. Anther challenge f building a hermit crab hme was the pening f the shell. T big wuld mean the crab wuld nt feel safe. T small wuld be uncmfrtable, and the crab wuld nt want t mve in.
