At 71 years ld, Kathrine Virginia Switzer has run 40 marathns (马拉松赛跑) in her life — and she has n intentin f stpping anytime sn.
Switzer first came t the public eye in 1967, when she was the first wman t run the Bstn Marathn. Back then, she had t use her initials (姓名的首字母), K.V., instead f her first name t sign up because wmen weren’t allwed t enter. When peple realized what Switzer had dne, a race manager tried physically pushing her ff during the run. But she managed t keep n, finishing in fur hurs and twenty minutes.
In 2017, Switzer entered again at age 70. She finished in 4:44:31. Tw years befre the race, Switzer had her plan. She wanted t wrk ut a training plan. “It was imprtant fr me nt t get injured during that tw-year perid r get ill,” she says.
In her 20s, Switzer wuld wrk ut twice a day, and run a marathn distance nce a week. She says lking back, that was prbably t intense (强烈的), and she cut back fr her 2017 Bstn run. They start t learn that there isn’t nly their view n things and they start t lk at ther cultures and appreciate their histry and beauty.
