I prefer…【教学过程】Pre-task preparation1.Free talk从pets入手,问一些学生感兴趣又容易回答的问题, 例如:Do you like pets?Who has a pet at home?What is your pet? What’s its name?How do you like it?How do you look after it?最后一个问题, 学生可能有各种各样的回答, 如: I often play with it. I walk it three times a week. I give him a bath every day. I feed him twice a day.等,这时候老师就可以说,Your pets are really lucky and happy. But do you know there are some unlucky homeless animals around us. (Show pictures of some homeless animals.)展示一些无家可归的宠物的照片, 或人们虐待动物的照片。(Someone left these puppies and their mothers in the street. They had no food or water. They were hungry and thirsty.)这部分的设计一个是可以激发起学生对动物的关爱,另一个其实也是为推动教学的进程。这时候是一个很好的切入点,教师可以提问,How can we help them? 学生的回答可能是We can take them home.等,但不会多,这时候老师就可以引入SPCA。Maybe you can take them home. She can… He can.. But that’s not enough. There’s a special organization. It can save and keep these homeless animals. It’s called SPCA.While-task procedure1.Introduce SPCAWhat is the SPCA? It’s the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals. 教师在介绍SPCA时一定要把这个全称清楚地板书或显示在屏幕上,并反复地领读,抽读或以开小火车的形式检查学生的发音,因为这是本课时一个重要的知识目标,而且在这个名称中有较多的生词,如society, prevention, 和cruelty虽然这些生词在课前已经让学生掌握了读音和意思,但作为一个词组出现,学生掌握还需要要花一些时间操练。接着可以借助多媒体,投射出SPCA的主页,这样可以让学生对SPCA有更直观的印象。这种将书本和现实生活的联系可以使得学生产生积极的学习兴趣和学习的动力。(SPCA是一个国际机构,所以在不同的国家都有网站。香港SPCA的网页上英文较为容易,而且有一定的中文辅助,所以适合上课时采用。)2.Listening and speakingHere I’ve got a recording of a conversation happened in the SPCA. Listen and then try to answer some questions.(questions are shown on the screen)这个环节的设计是让学生带着问题去听,这样就会降低学生回答问题的难度。问题的设计要基本涵盖对话的所有内容,这样才会起到吃透教材的作用。问题的设计如下:What are the children doing?What is the SPCA?(即使第一个回答的学生答对了,也要多抽几个学生回答或全班一起复述起到巩固的作用)Who’s the man in the conversation?Why did the man take animals to the SPCA?(这个问题看似较难回答,实际上在pre-task 部分已经呈现过, 因此学生可以回答)Which puppy does the girl like best?Which one does the first boy like best?Which one does the second boy like best?其实最后三个问题, 不光是在回答问题, 其实也是在操练这个结构。.3.操练句型Which one do you like best? I prefer...本来我设想是用一些水果. 玩具等让学生们去选择, 后来我们在可磨课的过程中,有老师提出来既然这课的主题是animal friends, 为什么不就用动物来做操练呢,这真是个不错的建议, 于是我设想可以从动物的颜色,大小,高矮等方面来让学生选。这个环节可以设计成两人或三人的生生互动,因为有图片的支持,学生应该会比较感兴趣,愿意动起来。Pre-task activities1.Role play to act out the conversation. (Group work, competition)A) Get the students form a group of four. Each one play a role. And give them some time to prepare.B) Acting out (competition)这个act out 本来没设计进去,后来发现这其实是这一页上Listen and act的主要内容之一是去不得的,而且这个对话不长,设计成竞赛的形式,学生参与课堂活动的积极性会比较高。2.Suppose you are going to visit the SPCA. What do you want to know? Think of some questions and make a list. Then the group leader presents your list. (group work)这个活动的设计其实是属于本课的拓展,也是对下个课时的铺垫。Homework1.Oral work: make a conversation between you and an SPCA Officer for everyday’s Show Time. (Using the list your group made in the class just now and the reading material on book)2.Written work.
