Fifty years ago I had a young family of three boys. My husband Johnny and I left them with a friend while we made a rare trip to the cinema in Liverpool.
It was dark and pouring with rain but with the headlights shining on the road,we saw something ahead of us. Johnny pulled to a stop and I jumped out,ran to the grass edge and grabbed a small, wet, and frightened creature. I wrapped it safely in my woollen hat and insisted that my husband turn back and head for home. We thought it was a baby rabbit because it had long ears and was grayish-brown in colour. Once home,we filled a box with torn-up newspaper and a warm towel. We named our new animal Bobsy as we had no idea of its sex.
Sadly though,on the third day with us,it caught its back foot in a door and we quickly realised it was broken. We rushed to the vet(兽医),who said,“It’s only a rabbit. I’ll put it to sleep.” Our response was a very determined “No way!” We found another vet and told that she was a baby hare. We were told we should continue to keep her in her box for a week and her foot would heal.
After her recovery,Bobsy learnt to use the kitty litter tray. She would comb her long ears with her front paws. The local paper heard about this and came to our house to take her photo and write a story about her. We had her for seven wonderful years before we moved to New Zealand and we will never forget her.
4.Why did Johnny stop his car suddenly?
A.He came across a friend. B.The headlights went out.
C.His car broke down on the road. D.He noticed something in front of him.
5.What happened to the little animal on its third day with the family?
A.It slept on a door. B.It was stuck in a door.
C.Its foot got seriously injured. D.It fell off from the top of a door.
6.Which best describes the family’s attitude towards the rabbit?
    A.Considerate. B.Cruel.
    C.Hopeless. D.Indifferent.
7.What is the passage mainly intended to do?
A.To tell the importance of protecting small animals.
B.To remember unusual experiences with a small rabbit.
C.To persuade people to give generously and receive thankfully.
D.To make the rabbit widely known to local people by paper.

(2023山东济宁市高二测试)The Disneyland parks are full of amusements, but they are also small cities that deal with deliveries, rubbish, and groups of visitors. People need to move from one place to another; they have to refuel and relax. To meet these requirements, the parks are well-equipped in reality. For example,Disneyland Park in California has a reliable transport system. In Walt Disney World in Florida, dustbins are spaced 30 feet apart, and all of them are emptied through underground tubes.
None of this happened by accident. Walt Disney first had his idea for a play land in 1937.He first imagined the park’s buildings in a small size. He spent years collecting ideas by visiting other places. He studied Beverly Park in Los Angeles, including rebuilt historic villages. He visited Colonial Williamsburg, where employees dressed up and walked around. Then he organized a team of engineers and designers to plan and build a small world he called Disneyland. Walt Disney had blueprints(蓝图) drawn up,and tried to get the permission to break ground(破土动工).
In 1953,he bought some land in Anaheim. Some designers thought it was too far,but Disney went ahead. It was like building a new city. Pipes had to be fixed. Railway track had to be laid around. Disney chose the hub-and-spoke(轴辐式的) street pattern that many cities have. “I want Disneyland to be a place where you can’t get lost,” he said. Designers and architects also diagrammed(图解) the rides and made models, while artists painted the background.
Finally in July 1955,the visitors came. If they picked up maps, they could see the results of years’ planning: the shops and restaurants, the square, and the streets. The magic city had finally jumped off the drawing board and come into real life.
8.What does the author want to show about Disneyland parks in the first paragraph?
A.The convenient environment. B.The amusing tourist attractions.
C.The differences between the parks. D.The visitors’ common requirements.
9.Why did Walt Disney travel to different places including Beverly Park?
A.To choose a place for construction. B.To advertise his Disneyland Park.
C.To experience American culture. D.To get inspiration for his park.
10.What kind of person is Walt Disney according to the passage?
    A.Confident but selfish. B.Stubborn but kind-hearted.
    C.Considerate and determined. D.Careful and hard-working.
11.What’s the main idea of the text?
A.It is worthwhile to build large parks.
B.Disneyland has been built like a brand-new city.
C.How a theme park was built in a big city of the USA.
D.Disneyland—a famous park around the world.

根据第二段中的“None of this happened by accident... He studied Beverly Park in Los Angeles, including rebuilt historic villages.”以及第三段第二句“Some designers thought it was too far,but Disney went ahead. ”可知,一些设计师认为这太不现实了,但沃尔特·迪士尼却坚持了下去。由此判断出沃尔特·迪士尼考虑周到和意志坚强。故选C项。
11.B 主旨大意题。通读全文可知,本文介绍了迪士尼乐园的内部是如何被沃尔特·迪士尼设计和规划的。根据最后一段“The magic city had finally jumped off the drawing board and come into real life(这座神奇的城市终于从画板上跳了下来,走进了现实生活).”

(2022年新高考全国Ⅱ卷)As we age, even if we’re healthy, the heart just isn’t as efficient in processing oxygen as it used to be. In most people the first signs show up in their 50s or early 60s. And among people who don’t exercise, the changes can start even sooner.
“Think of a rubber band. In the beginning,it is flexible, but put it in a drawer for 20 years and it will become dry and easily broken,” says Dr Ben Levine,a heart specialist at the University of Texas. That’s what happens to the heart. Fortunately for those in midlife,Levine is finding that even if you haven’t been an enthusiastic exerciser, getting in shape now may help improve your aging heart.
Levine and his research team selected volunteers aged between 45 and 64 who did not exercise much but were otherwise healthy. Participants were randomly divided into two groups. The first group participated in a program of nonaerobic(无氧的) exercise—balance training and weight training—three times a week. The second group did high-intensity aerobic exercise under the guidance of a trainer for four or more days a week. After two years, the second group saw remarkable improvements in heart health.
“We took these 50-year-old hearts and turned the clock back to 30-or 35-year-old hearts,” says Levine. “And the reason they got so much stronger and fitter was that their hearts could now fill a lot better and pump(泵送) a lot more blood during exercise.” But the hearts of those who participated in less intense exercise didn’t change,he says.
“The sweet spot in life to start exercising,if you haven’t already,is in late middle age when the heart still has flexibility,” Levine says. “We put healthy 70-year-olds through a yearlong exercise training program, and nothing happened to them at all.”
Dr Nieca Goldberg,a spokeswoman for the American Heart Association, says Levine’s findings are a great start. But the study was small and needed to be repeated with far larger groups of people to determine exactly which aspects of an exercise routine make the biggest difference.
12.What does Levine want to explain by mentioning the rubber band?
A.The right way of exercising. B.The causes of a heart attack.
C.The difficulty of keeping fit. D.The aging process of the heart.
13.In which aspect were the two groups different in terms of research design?
    A.Diet plan. B.Professional background.
    C.Exercise type. D.Previous physical condition.
    14.What does Levine’s research find?
A.Middle-aged hearts get younger with aerobic exercise.
B.High-intensity exercise is more suitable for the young.
C.It is never too late for people to start taking exercise.
D.The more exercise we do,the stronger our hearts get.
15.What does Dr Nieca Goldberg suggest?
A.Making use of the findings. B.Interviewing the study participants.
C.Conducting further research. D.Clarifying the purpose of the study.

根据第三段中的“The first group participated in a program of nonaerobic(无氧的) exercise—balance training and weight training—three times a week. The second group did high-intensity aerobic exercise under the guidance of a trainer for four or more days a week.”
根据第三段中的“The second group did high-intensity aerobic exercise under the guidance of a trainer for four or more days a week. After two years, the second group saw remarkable improvements in heart health.”和第四段中的“‘We took these 50-year-old hearts and turned the clock back to 30-or 35-year-old hearts,’ says Levine.” 故选A项。
根据最后一段中的“But the study was small and needed to be repeated with far larger groups of people to determine exactly which aspects of an exercise routine make the biggest difference.”

be known as表示“作为……而出名”,本句为形容词短语作后置定语。故填 known。
    37.its 考查代词。its为形容词性物主代词,后接名词visitor 作宾语。故填its。
故填an。

    Dear Jerry,
Knowing you are interested in Chinese culture,I’m writing to invite you to visit a calligraphy and painting exhibition in the exhibition centre in our city.
The show centres around “My Country and I” and displays lots of classic paintings about diligent Chinese people and their happy lives, from which you can also learn about the big changes and rapid advances of the country in recent years. Besides, some great calligraphy from well-known artists is included.
I wonder if you will be available this Saturday.
    Looking forward to your reply.
    Yours,
    Li Hua
It was a hot day in the middle of July. I decided to walk to the neighbourhood store where it sold my favourite thing, ice cream. I pulled a friend towards the ice cream store, almost passing out from the burning sun on the way.
As we walked on,my friend kept saying that it was too hot. She thought that she was stupid to decide to come with me to buy ice cream. I felt sorry and tried to encourage her. “We’re almost there. Just think of the cool and sweet taste of ice cream in your mouth. It’ll be worth the walk,” I told her. But I had to admit that the store was quite a distance from our houses. During the journey,my mouth began to become dry and I wanted to drink.
When we were about a block away from the store,I noticed an old lady who was walking in our direction. She was about 70 years old. She had a big back problem,so she was unable to keep her back straight. She was struggling, pushing a shopping cart full of things like the soap, bread and water. With each step toward her,we began to see her appearance more clearly. It appeared that she was often unhappy and easy to get angry.
I looked at my friend to see if she had noticed her. I could see that she had and that she disliked the old lady due to the lady’s appearance. As we approached the lady pushing the shopping cart,my friend directed me away from the old lady and the cart.
I began to observe other passers-by. They were also trying to avoid her. Suddenly I heard a terrible sound behind me. I quickly turned around to see what it was. I found the lady’s cart had been knocked over by something on the ground.
    注意:
    1.续写词数应为150左右;
    2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
Things in the shopping cart like the soap all dropped on the ground.______________________ _______________________________________________________________________________
    One possible version:
Things in the shopping cart like the soap all dropped on the ground. I watched in shock as the lady bent down slowly and tried hard to collect her things. I turned to my friend and asked,“Shall we go and help her?” “It is not we who knocked her shopping cart over,” my friend said impatiently, walking ahead. I stood there for a moment, suddenly feeling sorry for this pitiful lady. “I’ll help her,” I said with determination.
Then my friend continued walking on while I went to the lady.__________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________
    One possible version:
Then my friend continued walking on while I went to the lady. “Let me help you,” I said as I helped her get the cart up. The lady looked up and said tearfully,“Thank you!” Then I helped her put things back into her cart. To my surprise, some passers-by joined me,including my friend. With everything put into her cart,my friend and I helped push it to her house. If it were not for the incident,we would have had delicious ice cream to eat,but we didn’t feel regretful, for what we did was meaningful.
