    1. 概述:定语从句:在复合句中修饰名词或代词的从句。 例:He is the man wh helped me. The building which stands near the river is ur schl.先行词:被修饰的名词或代词在定语从句中叫作先行词。 例:The huse whse windws face suth belngs t him.关系词:把先行词和定语从句联系起来。代替先行词在定语从句中充当句子成分。 关系代词在定语从句中可以作主语、宾语、定语;关系副词在定语从句中可以作状语。 例:D yu have anything that yu want t say fr yurself? I still remember the day when I first came t Beijing.
    2. 分类限制性定语从句:对先行词起修饰、限制作用,为句中不可缺少的部分,主句和从句关 系非常紧密,不能用逗号分开。 例:The bk that yu were lking fr was sld ut. The peple wh wrk in my ffice are very friendly.非限制性定语从句:对先行词起补充说明的作用,若将其去掉,不影响主句意思的完 整,主句和从句之间必须用逗号分开。 除了that以外,其他的关系代词和关系副词都和限制性定语从句用法相同,只是所有关系 词都必须写上,不能省略。 例:The small twn, where he nce wrked, has turned t be a mdern industry city.
    关系代词that(1)仅在限制性定语从句中使用,既可以指代人又可以指代物,在定语从句中作主语、宾语、表语,作宾语时可省略,但不能作介词宾语。(2)下面几种情况必须用that引导定语从句:先行词是不定代词all, few, little, much, smething, nthing, anything等;先行词被the nly, the very, any, every, n, all, few, little, much等修饰;先行词被序数词或形容词最高级修饰;先行词既有人又有物;主句的主语是疑问词wh或which;主句以here, there开头;有两个定语从句,其中一个关系代词宜用which,另外一个宜用that。
    例:She is the girl that/wh lives next dr. That is ne f the things (that/which) I will never frget.
    关系代词which(1)指代物或一句话,在定语从句中作主语、宾语或介词的宾语。(2)“介词+which”引导定语从句的用法 例:He has visited the schl many times, in which he has many friends. He lived in a big huse, in frnt f which std a big tall tree.
    例:They sld pants which/that were made frm tent material. These are ranges (which/that) I picked myself. This is the cmpany with which we signed the agreement. He was late again, which made the teacher very unhappy.
    关系代词as(1)用于限制性定语从句。指人或物且在限制性定语从句中作主语、宾语、表语。 常用句型:① such(+名词)+as...(像……一样的,像……之类的) ② the same+名词+as...(和……同样的)(2)用于非限制性定语从句。指代整个主句或主句中的一部分,意为“正如……,像……”。
    例:We have fund such materials as are used in their factry. This bk is nt such as I expect. I have the same bk as he has.
    例:As is knwn t us all, China is in the east f Asia.
    关系代词wh, whm, whse(1)wh指代人,在定语从句中作主语、宾语,但介词提到关系代词前,不能用wh。在限制性定语从句中wh可用that代替。(2)whm指代人,在定语从句中作宾语,介词提到关系代词前,只能用whm。在限制性定语从句中可用wh或that代替。(3)whse指人或者物,在定语从句中作定语。当从句中含有与先行词有所属关系的词的时候,我们就用whse引导定语从句,相当于f whm或f which。
    例:She is the girl wh/that lives next dr. I discussed it with my brther, wh is a lawyer. That’s the girl (whm/wh/that) I teach. This is the scientist, f whm the achievements are well knwn.This is the scientist whse achievements are well knwn.This is the huse whse windw brke last night.
    关系副词when, where, why(1)when指时间,在定语从句中作时间状语,相当于“表时间的介词(如:in, at, n, during等)+ which”。(2)where指地点,在定语从句中作地点状语,相当于“表地点的介词(如:in, at, n, under等)+ which”。(3)why指原因,在定语从句中作原因状语,相当于“表原因的介词(如:fr)+which”。
    例:I still remember the day when I first came t Beijing. (when = n which)
    例:Can yu tell me the ffice where he wrks? (where = in which)
    例:D yu knw the reasn why he is absent? (why = fr which)
    当先行词为situatin, case, stage, pint等,且关系词在定语从句中作状语时,也要用关系副词where引导。有时为表达清楚,还可以在关系副词where/when前加介词frm/t等。关系副词when, where可用于非限制性定语从句,而关系副词why不可以。
