There are hundreds of national parks and wildlife areas in Africa that you can travel to. Here are the top four travel destinations in Africa:
Tanzania—Serengeti National Park
During the yearly migration(迁徙), when the wildebeests and zebras pack up and leave their living areas to find fresher ones, the Serengeti is an astonishing place to be. It’s a very good travel spot, for migration here has been ranked as a wonder of the natural world.
Kenya—Masai Mara National Park
If you want to see the big cats, this wildlife park is the best. There are lots of lions, leopards and cheetahs, and they are relatively easy to see because you can get good views for miles around. Another big plus is the fact that going off-road is allowed and it is a big advantage because the animals will rarely follow you and stay next to the major roads.
South Africa—Kruger National Park
For the variety of species no other place in Africa can come close to the Kruger Park. And because it is so large it has a number of different ecosystems that you can pass through in your search for animals and birds. It is one of the best managed parks in Africa and the accommodation is well equipped, too.
Zambia—South Luangwa National Park
South Luangwa is a diamond in the rough, just waiting for enough exposure to bring it to its rightful place in the crown(王冠) of prime Africa trips. It has been considered as one of the best places in Africa to see the special leopard and it is the birthplace of the walking travel.

Everglades National Park is located in the state of Florida. It is the largest wilderness in the entire country and makes up 25% of the wetlands in the state. The park is home to several rare and endangered species. It is also the third largest national park in the US, after Death Valley and Yellowstone. On a global level, it has been announced as a World Heritage Site.
Unlike most other national parks, Everglades National Park was created to protect an ecosystem from damage. In 1947, President Harry Truman said the goal of creating the park was to protect forever a wild area that could never be replaced.
10,000 different islands make up Everglades National Park. Each of these islands is occupied by natural wildlife. The Everglades is home to about 15 species that are endangered, including the American crocodile(鳄鱼) and the west manatee. In addition, more than 350 bird species and 300 species of fresh and saltwater fish live within the park. The Everglades is also home to 40 species of mammals and 50 reptile species.
According to experts, changes to the Everglades are becoming a danger to several different kinds of wildlife. They say it is a result of actions the US government began more than 50 years ago, and settlers began even earlier.

Ⅳ. 阅读理解
I went to the Tsavo National Park in northern Kenya for a film. We set off early for a distant waterhole. A huge elephant covered with dry mud drank calmly and deeply. He might have travelled 50 km to reach the water. He wasn’t going to hurry now. We thought he’d drink a while and rest in the shade, and then drink again. What actually happened was that he drank deeply and stepped away. Then he suddenly fell down. Within minutes he was dead.
We called animal doctor Jeremiah Poghon immediately. He removed the head of a poisonous arrow(箭) from the elephant’s body, and let out over 100 litres of drug—the result of the elephant’s meeting with a poacher(偷猎者) months before.
Today’s poacher fires an arrow, covered with poison, into the body of an elephant. If the poacher is lucky, the elephant might die in an hour or two; if not, he might have to follow the elephant for days before it dies. Often the arrow head fails to kill the elephant at once—it doesn’t mean the poison won’t finally kill the elephant, but it will be a slow death.
Living in Tsavo through these times, I could see the results of poaching wild animals from time to time. When I think about the death of that elephant, what stays with me is the great silence after the shocking sound of his body hitting the ground. I couldn’t escape the feeling that with the death of such a large animal, the world seemed to be a poorer and emptier place.
1. Which of the following is TRUE according to the first paragraph?
A. The author went to the waterhole to find water.

答案:C
