Writing 1 [2022山东青岛调研]Watering is key t grwing plants well, s here we lk at hw t get it just right. This means nt nly prviding the water ur gardens need but using it wisely. Water is a precius resurce and supplies in the UK are under pressure frm the effects f climate change, ppulatin increase and the need t prtect the envirnment. Generally, several aspects need t be cnsidered. When t water plantsWater plants in the mrnings, if yu can, as this is when the sun cmes up and plants start t transpire(蒸腾) in sunlight, drawing water frm the sil, thrugh their rts, up their stems and t their leaves. Evening watering is als fine, as the cler cnditins mean less water is lst t evapratin (蒸发).Watering in the heat f the day is nt a gd idea, as much water is lst thrugh evapratin frm the surface f the sil. Plants will use water mre efficiently if watered in the cler parts f the day.Hw t water plantsWatering plants thrughly matters. It helps get the water dwn t the deeper rt tips where it’s needed. But, equally imprtant, the sil desn’t have t be really wet all the time because plants’rts need air as well as water t grw well. Otherwise, there might be n flwer r fruit, and even a wrse result might cme alng.
Other tipsT use water in the mst ecnmical way,it’s gd t learn different plants’ watering requirements. Fr example, a cntainer plant in ht sunny weather may need watering daily, whereas a mature shrub might nly need a drink in extreme drught. Annual flwers and vegetables prduced in the spring are likely t need mre watering than self-swn r autumn-grwn plants as they have new and shallw rt systems. S, dn’t treat all the plants in the same way.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Writing 2 Peple all feel lnely frm time t time. Feelings f lneliness are persnal, s everyne’s experience f lneliness will be different. Lneliness is nt always the same as being alne. A persn may chse t be alne and live happily withut much cntact with ther peple, while thers may find this a lnely experience. One cmmn descriptin f lneliness is the feeling peple get when their need fr rewarding scial cntact and relatinships is nt met.Feeling lnely isn’t in itself a mental health prblem, but the tw are strngly linked. Sme peple may experience deep and cnstant feelings f lneliness that cme frm within and d nt disappear, regardless f their scial situatin r hw many friends they have.Althugh reasns fr peple’s experience f lneliness are varius, thinking abut what is making these peple feel lnely may help them find a way f feeling better. This is called desertificatin.Desertificatin ccurs in regins clse t an already existing desert. It generally arises frm tw related causes. The first is veruse f water in the area. There is nt enugh water in any case, and if it is nt carefully used, disasters can fllw. As time ges n, water shrtages make farming mre and mre difficult. In sme places, lcals can remember lcal lakes and marshes which were nce the hme t all kinds f fish and birds. They have been cmpletely buried by the sand nw. Farmers leave the land, and fields are replaced by deserts. The secnd cause is misuse r veruse f the land. This means that the wrng crps are planted and need mre water than what is available.Plughing large fields and remving bushes and trees mean that the wind will blw away the sil. Once the sil is lst, it is hard t replace, and if there is rain, it has nwhere t g, and brings n benefit. It is nt nly the farmers and villagers wh suffer. Every spring, the skies ver sme f eastern cities, thusands f kilmeters away frm the deserts, can be darkened by sandstrms. Dust frm deserts can have a great effect n weather systems. While desertificatin is perhaps partly caused by glbal warming, these sandstrms can make glbal warming wrse by adding t what is knwn as the greenhuse effect.
What can be dne t slw dwn r stp the prcess f desertificatin? Obviusly first find new water surces. Tree planting can help by prviding barriers between deserts and rich fields. Sme types f grass als hld the sil tgether, and stp the wind taking it. Withut these effrts, it will be harder and harder t stp the wrld’s deserts n their way, and mre and mre farmers will give up and head fr cities. The lessn t be learnt lies beneath the sand.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
