教学目标： At the end of the class, the students will be able to: 1. learn the words and expressions. 2. learn to read between the lines: to get the meanings that are not clearly stated in a text. 3. learn to read a passage about Christmas and understand the true spirit of Christmas.
教学重点： 1. Key vocabulary: Christmas,lie,novel,dead,business,punish,warn,present,warmth,spread... end up, the importance of, care about, used to do, remind of, wake up, find out, in need, the spirit of, punish sb. for sth/doing sth, warn sb to sth,... 2. Key sentences: a. It is about an old man named Scrooge who never laughs or smiles. b. First, the Ghost of Christmas Past takes him back to his childhood and reminds Scrooge of his happier days as a child c. He warns Scrooge to change his ways if he doesn't want to end up like him. 3. Structures: verb+that+clause verb(verb phrase)+whether+clause

Step 2 Lead-in (PPT 9-10)		1.After the talk and ask some Ss to summarize it. 2.Read 2a and then try to complete the mind map on the page 14. What do you know about Christmas? Ask Ss to discuss in groups and create a mind map.				讨论之后让学生进行总结，以此引起学生对本文的好奇，同时引入2a。用导图总结讨论的话题，激发学生对圣诞节真正意义的思考。
Step 3 While-reading (PPT 11-20)		Careful reading. Read Paragraph 1 and answer the three questions. 2. Read paragraph 2 and tell T or F. 3. Read Paragraph 3 and match the three ghosts with the things they did. 4. Read Paragraph 4 and write the words of his change.				本部分是课文细读部分。每读完一段都要完成相应的任务，以检测对本文圣诞意义的理解。通过问题设计，让学生带着问题阅读，提高他们的英语阅读能力，同时学会根据事实对事情的发展进行推断的阅读策略。
Step 4 Post-reading (PPT 21-25)		1. Ask Ss to have a free talk about the story and share ideas with the class. 2. Read the passage again and complete the chart in 2c. 3.Answer the questions and learn to infer the story in 2d. Ask Ss to infer them according to the details in the story and learn to read between the lines to get the meanings that are not clearly stated in a text.				引导学生自由讨论对本故事的理解。引导学生分析课文，阅读句子上下行进行推断，使学生学会对细节的推断能力，这是英语阅读较难的一项技能。
Step 5 Practice (PPT 26-28)		Ask Ss to make a conversation between the three ghosts and Scrooge in groups of four. What do you think the three ghosts say to Scrooge when they visit him? Role-play the conversation in front of the class. Sum up what you know about Christmas.				提高学生的口语表达能力。同时通过编对话也能提升学生的写作水平。
Step 6 Language points (PPT 29-43)		Ask some students to read the language points so that they can understand the language points deeply. Master the phrases end up, the importance of, used to do, remind of, in need, the spirit of, a novel, written by…, punish sb. for sth/doing sth, warn sb to sth,. a mean person etc.				解决本节课的知识点。通过例句及讲解使学生加深对词汇用法和结构的理解。
Step 7 Exercises (PPT 44-51)		Practice the language points by these exercises.				通过填单词、单选、完成句子等形式练习所学的语言点以及宾语从句和感叹句。
Step 8 中考链接 (PPT 52)		Ask Ss to try to do some exercises from past exam papers to practice the key words and the target languages.				本部分主要精选中考题，针对九上学生面临中考的情况，引导学生建立学习与中考链接的意识。
Step 9 Homework (PPT 53)		1.Search more information about Christmas and other foreign festivals. 2. Then play a game to speak them out.				设计该作业主要使学生们对于圣诞节更详细的了解，并从节日中了解西方文化。

Section B (2a-2e) 1.But behind all these things lies the true meaning of Christmas: the importance of sharing and giving love and joy to people around us. 2.A Christmas Carol is a famous short novel written by Charles Dickens. 3.He just cares about whether he can make more money and he hates Christmas. 4.Marley used to be just like Scrooge, so he was punished after he died.
教学反思		1.本节课主要通过学生的阅读活动完成相应的阅读理解任务，从而达到对于斯克鲁奇的巨大变化的理解，从中学到圣诞精神的内在本质：将善良、爱和欢乐传递到全世界。 2.通过本节课，使学生学会利用文章的上下文推断的阅读理解能力。这是一项阅读策略。 3.本课时是一节运用宾语从句的阅读课，教学中多引导学生分析宾语从句，从而达到熟练运用的目的。
