| Activity 5: Careful reading ①part 1: (para1) Introduction <1>Find the two opinions toward space exploration
<2>Find out how the author links the two different opinions and think of relative expressions. (Thesis statement & two different opinions) <3>The author’s attitude toward space exploration (Shallow) ②Part 2(para2 -- 4) Body : benefits of space exploration <1>Find out the arguments and evidences form the passage; <2>Find out transitional words to make the discourse more coherent; <3>Para2: why can exploring space help fight against world hunger? (complete the gap ), lead to the reasoning which can make content more convincing. <4>Try to find out expressions about the cause and effect and show students more expressions about reasoning. <5>Para3: examples to make language more convincing <6>Para4: question: What did the pictures of Earth from space make people realize? (ask SS to answer the question and translate the whole sentence. Then ask them to find the special thing about the sentence, then lead to the simile, and rhetorical device. Vivid language. ) ③Part 3 (para 5) Conclusion: <1>Find out the sentence that repeats the writer’s opinion in the last paragraph.
