教材分析
本板块旨在巩固Reading and Thinking语篇中的重点词汇,帮助学生进一步拓展本单元语篇词汇,丰富主题知识。本板块通过三个活动,以词汇填空、造句等不同形式让学生将本单元所学的重点词汇进行归纳和记忆。着重培养学生的词汇理解、应用能力,以及使用词块表达意义的能力,学生在积累主题词汇的同时能进一步拓展健康生活知识,培养健康生活的良好习惯。
教学目标
在本课学习结束时,学生能够:
1. 归纳记忆本单元的重点词汇和短语:abuse,dominate,cue,in response to,reward,examine, discipline。
2. 掌握habit的固定搭配。
教学重难点

能准确掌握habit的固定搭配的意义及用法。
教学过程
Step 1 Warming-up
Do a running dictation. There are some slips of paper which written the same 8 sentences in the front of the class. Students should work in groups of 4. One of the group members should go to read a slip of paper, remember one sentence and then return to their partners and dictate the sentence. If he/she forgets a word, he/she must return and check. After dictating that sentence, another student of the group members should do the same thing until 8 sentences are dictated.
设计意图:通过听写的形式,帮助学生初步熟悉本节课所学词汇,激发学生学习的兴趣。
Step 2 Reading
1. Read the passage and think carefully about the following questions.
(1) What is “habit cycle”?
(2) Do you have more good ideas to give up bad habits?
2. Complete the summary using the words from the box.
设计意图:引导学生再次阅读语篇,进一步巩固对文本内容的掌握。
Step 3 Learn the collocations
Find “verb+a habit” collocations from the previous text. Then make sentences with them.
设计意图:练习并掌握habit的固定搭配,并学会造句,在适当的语境中应用。
Step 4 Notes
Learn the key language points.
(1) For example, some of them may become involved in tobacco or alcohol abuse, which can lead to physical and mental health problem. (abuse的用法)
(2) To prevent harmful habits like these from dominating a teenager’s life is essential. (dominate的用法)
(3) Firstly, there is a “cue”, an action, event, or situation that acts as a signal to do something. (cue的用法)
(4) Secondly, there is a “routine”, the regular action you take in response to the cue. (in response to的用法)
(5) Thirdly, there is the “reward”, the good thing or feeling we get from the routine. (reward的用法)
(6) The reward makes us much more likely to continue the cycle, and the bad habit of relying on unhealthy snacks is formed. (rely的用法)
(7) To facilitate a positive change in our bad habits, we must first examine our bad habit cycles and then try to adapt them. (facilitate和examine的用法)
(8) To reach the goal of change, a person must show some discipline and repeatedly take many small steps. (discipline的用法)
设计意图:通过例句和讲解,帮助学生理解并掌握本课重要知识点。
Step 5 Practise
Compete the passage using the correct forms of the words in the box.
设计意图:引导学生在语境中进一步理解和巩固重要知识点的用法。
Step 6 Assignment.
1. Finish the workbook exercises on Page 68;
2. Add one more paragraph to the passage of Activity 3 on Page 16.
设计意图:开放性任务与课本基础任务相结合,巩固学生上课所学词汇,培养学生在语境中使用单词的能力,拓展学生思维。
