Dear Dr. Green, My relationship with my mother is worse and worse now. It seems she’s never tired of talking. She talks here and there, day and night. More seriously, I feel like we don’t have much in common. She doesn’t always understand what I’m trying to say. What should I do? Yours, Jim |
Dear Jim, I know how you feel. It’s not easy being your age. And it’s not easy being a mother, either. It’s common for kids to have trouble talking with parents, and talkative mothers are not new to teenagers. But remember, she’s nagging you because she just wants what’s best for you. Talking is her way to show love and care. And she also wants to know more about you. After a day’s work, she’s tired, too. But she will never be tired of caring about you. Kids should learn to understand and care about parents. In my opinion, it’s helpful to share school life with her. Then, you talk and she listens. Doing some housework together with her is another good way for you two to know each other better. And if possible, often tell her your feelings about the things around you. Always keep in mind: be polite and patient. Yours, Dr. Green |
41.Why does Jim write to Dr. Green?
A.Because his parents can’t understand him.
B.Because he has trouble getting on with his mother.
C.Because his mother doesn’t care about him.
D.Because he is allowed to do much housework.
42.The underlined word “nagging” means ________in Chinese.
A.唠叨 B.放纵 C.保护 D.溺爱
43.What advice does Dr. Green give to Jim?
A.Argue with his mother.
B.Understand and care about his mother.
C.Take no notice of his mother and do whatever he likes.
D.Ask his mother to help with his housework.

“I liked to play with toys(玩具) in the past, but now I don’t,” said one of my friends, “Playing with toys is a waste of time for students.”
Maybe you are like him. But in my class, some students love playing with a special toy— Kendama. In Chinese, we call it Jianyu.
With a rich history, Kendama is very popular in my class. It first appeared in France. In the 1600s, it came to Japan and became a kind of game after dinner. In the 1900s, Japanese people made it more interesting. And they called it Kendama, which means “cup and ball games” in Japanese.
It has a handle(手柄), a pair of cups and a ball. And a rope gets them together. When you play with it, you can pull(抛) the ball up and get it with the cup. You can make up different moves as you like. You can buy a Kendama on the Internet. Some of them are cheap. And you can learn to play with it on the Internet, too.
“It’s really interesting,” said Deng Chuqin, a Kendama player in my class, “This toy makes my life more interesting. It’s relaxing.”
Though learning how to play Kendama is difficult, you can do it well by practicing often. It is a toy that can teach you never to give up on your dream.
44.What can we know from the article?

B.Kendama has a short history.

46.What does the writer think of learning to play with Kendama?

47.Why does the writer write this article?

B.To call on(号召) people to learn to play Kendama.
C.To teach us how to play Kendama.
D.To show different people’s opinions on Kendama.

When I was walking back home at around 12:15 pm during my lunch break one core (果核) comes flying toward me. It landed just before my feet. Surprised, I counted myself fortunate not to get hit by it.
The apple was thrown over the fence (围栏) by a school student. ________. A street separates my apartment building from the school.
Thinking it was a one-off experience, I told my friends, and we laughed about it.
Then, the week after, I was walking along exactly the same spot at exactly the same time and bam! Another apple came over. This time it landed on the roof of a shed (棚屋). I thought to myself: “Is it my destiny (命运) to get hit by an apple?”
Last week I was walking back home. I checked my phone. It was 12:15 pm. My mind wandered to those two times before when I’d seen an apple thrown over the wall. But suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted (阻断) by ANOTHER flying apple! This one was a big one. Only one bite had been taken out of it, and it was thrown with speed.
Enough was enough. Someone could be really hurt by these apples. Did the student(s) not realize that people live across the wall? Or do they not care?
I told my friend about it. “You should just throw the apple back over the wall to react (回应). That will teach them,” my friend suggested. But I don’t want to play that “game”. As they say, an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. Besides, I might end up hurting someone when I throw it back.
Maybe I’ll call the school and let them know. The student(s) responsibly need to know that they might end up hurting someone if they keep throwing their waste. What’s more, waste belongs in the bin, not anywhere else.

A.the writer was hit in the eye by the last thrown apple.
B.the writer will set up a camera on the wall
C.the writer will not react by doing the same bad thing
D.the writer will throw the apple back next time
51.What can we infer from the story?
A.The first apple was thrown by a school student.
B.The students could see when the writer was walking by.
C.Somebody was once hurt by thrown waste there.
D.The school may find out about the problem and set new rules.

I really love this job because I enjoy working with small children. I also think my work is very important. But there was a time when I thought I would never have a job like this.
I wasn’t the best student because I didn’t do much schoolwork. Just before I left school, I started thinking what I might do and found that there’s not much I could do. I thought I wasn’t that kind of person to have a job.
I then found myself a job, looking after two little girls for a family. It wasn’t difficult at first. But problems began when I agreed to live in, so that my owner could go out to work in the evenings. I got very tired because I had too many late nights and early mornings with children.
One Sunday, I was in the park with the children, and met Mary who was my classmate. I told her about my job. She said that I should get a qualification(资格证书) if I wanted to work with children. And it would help me learn more skills to look after children better without feeling too tired. Her idea made sense. I decided to take part-time lessons. So I left the family. All the lessons helped me look after children better and helped me get a job at a kindergarten(幼儿园).
Now I have a job as a teacher at a kindergarten. I should be thankful to Mary.

If you’ve seen only the Great Wall in Beijing, or beautiful tall buildings in Shanghai, you haven’t seen China. Most of the country is wide-open space, green and blue: mountains and rivers. And it is the exact openness that many people have loved for centuries. Their dream is to sit on a terrace (梯田) halfway up a mountain, with tea boiling, an ink-brush at hand, a friend at the door and a river running nearby. The best way to live in such a dreamland is through painting. A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains by Wang Ximeng of the Song Dynasty is probably the best example.
A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains is in the form of hand scroll (手卷) . For viewers, it’s better to enjoy this 12-meter-long painting from right to left. The pleasure lies in walking along cross-village roads. The trip starts from the far right. Mountains circled by rivers rise up to the cloudless sky and then you see two fishermen going home on the wooden bridge. Mountains then gradually fall back. They’re worth a stop. And then openness. Sky, sky, sky, until its whiteness is covered by mountains which become higher again in the center. And all the way to left, there are tiny waterfalls and terraces among which people are boating and playing happily. The painting shows people’s rich and peaceful life as well as love for the natural world. In China’s art history, it’s like the moon among stars because of its shining bright blue-green color.
Perhaps just as fascinating as the painting itself is the fact that it was created by a teenager, Wang Ximeng. According to the recorded history, he entered Hanlin Imperial Painting House at a young age, where the Emperor Song Huizong discovered his drawing talent and decided to teach him in person. With Song Huizong’s guiding, the 18-year-old boy finished this famous painting within half a year which has amazed the future world. Unluckily, after completing it, he disappeared and his death is still a mystery today.
Centuries later, the color of the painting is as bright as the new, which is hard to be exceeded (超越). Shining brightly among stars, it has become one of China’s national treasures. Feeling proud of Chinese culture, more and more artists are starting their creation journey. and sparing no effort to bring this painting to life. Now you can not only hear the painting sing in the music video Magnificent Landscape in Painting by Yiyang Qianxi, but also watch it dance in the drama Only Blue and Green.
