Writing: A survey on jobs
设计说明 通过让学生角色扮演采访职业,让学生回顾职业的表达。呈现生词短语,帮学生扫除语言障碍。通过听基蒂和苏珊的对话,让学生会听会读,掌握规范发音。接下来,让学生完成与这个对话相关的练习,提高学生的理解能力。然后,通过让学生结对表演对话,让学生积极参与到英语学习中来。设置与这个对话相关的问答练习,让学生掌握对话中的重要信息,为后续段落描写做好准备。接下来,让学生选择自己想从事的工作,互相采访并回答问题,完成问卷调查,并结合调查结果进行汇报。通过引导学生写有关职业的作文,让学生达到有效的语言输出。结合部分练习,检验本课节的知识点,查缺补漏。 教学目标 通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 学习本课节新词汇:neighbour, meeting, manager, take notes; 继续巩固用一般现在时描述习惯性动作的语法点。 2.能力目标 能够理解有关职业的对话; 能够使用表示关系的词汇(如表示并列、转折关系的词)或过渡性词汇等为文章添彩; 能够写出与某人所从事工作相关的作文。 3.情感目标 培养学生乐于交流,积极学习的心态。 重点难点 重点:学习本课节新词汇neighbour, meeting, manager, take notes。 难点:能够理解有关职业的对话; 能够使用表示关系的词汇(如表示并列、转折关系的词)或过渡性词汇等为文章添彩; 能够写出与某人所从事工作相关的作文。 教学准备 PPT课件;有关邻居、会议的图片;活动Say and act的录音。 授课时数 1课时
教学过程 Step 1 Warming up 1. Let the students work in pairs. Student A is a reporter, who interviews Student B like this: Student A : What’s your job, ___________? Student B : I’m a _____________________. Student A : What do you do? Student B : I ________________________. Student A : Do you wear a uniform at work? Student B : _________________________. 2. Get some pairs to talk in front of the class.
Step 2 Presentation Show some related pictures. Present the new words and expression: neighbour, meeting, manager, take notes.

Step 3 Listen and read 1. Listen to the dialogue between Kitty and Susan on Page 29. The students follow in their books. 2. Let them work in pairs and practice the dialogue. 3. Select some pairs to read sections of the dialogue.
Step 4 Read and complete 1. Read the dialogue again and ask the students to finish the exercises.
2. Give them some time to check the answers in groups. 3. Ask some groups to read their answers. 4. Check their answers together.

Step 5 Read and act 1. Ask the students to read the dialogue again. 2. Practice in pairs. Ask some pairs to act in roles.
Step 6 Discuss and write Activity 1 1. Let the students to discuss the questions about Susan’s job and find out the answers. (1) What’s Susan’s job? (2) Where does Susan work? (3) What does she do? (4) Does she wear a uniform at work? (5) Does she like her job? (6) Why does she like her job? 2. Check the answers together. Answers: (1) She is a secretary. (2) She works in an office in the city centre. (3) She answers the phone, types letters, goes to meetings with her manager and takes notes. She does many different things. (4) No. She does not wear a uniform. (5) Yes. She likes her job. (6) She likes her job because it is interesting and she enjoys working with all the people in her office. Activity 2 1. Get the students to write and complete the report about Susan. Susan, the secretary Susan is my neighbour. We live in the same block of flats. She is a secretary. She works in an (1) in (2) . Step 7 A survey 1. Let the students choose their job they would like to do. In pairs, let the students interview each other and complete the questionnaire.
2. Ask one or two students to act out their interview. 3. Let the students write the report. Ask individual students to read out their reports.
Step 8 Write 1. Ask the students to write a passage about their father’s job. 2. Give the students some examples to help them make their sentences better.
3. One possible version: My father is a taxi driver. He works for a taxi company. He drives passengers to the places they want to visit. He’s good at driving and he never breaks traffic rules. My father needs to wear his uniform at work because it’s one of the rules in his company. My father likes his job because he enjoys talking with his passengers and he also enjoys showing tourists around our city. My father is friendly to everyone around him, so people like him very much. My father is always busy with his work, but he lives a happy life.
Step 9 Language points I go to meetings with my manager and take notes. 我和经理一同出席会议并作记录。 (1)go to meetings出席会议 此处meeting是名词,其动词形式是meet。 She is busy because she has to go to meetings.她很忙,因为她得出席会议。 (2)manager〔名词〕经理 The manager is kind to us.经理对我们很好。 【拓展】manage〔动词〕管理;设法做到 The man manages the company well.这个人把公司管理得很好。 My father manages to finish the job on time.我爸爸设法按时完成了工作。 take notes记笔记,作记录 It’s helpful if you take notes in class. 如果你在课堂上做笔记,会很有帮助。
Step 10 Homework 1. Complete the exercises in Workbook 7A on page 23. 2. Write a letter to your penfriend. Tell him or her about one of your neighbours’ job.
