One possible version:
Be a Student With Dreams and Responsibilities
With the rapid development of China, we, youngsters, should stick to our dreams and shoulder our responsibilities.
As for me, I always dream to better this world. I try to be good at western and eastern cultures, which allows me to spread Chinese cultures. Additionally, I will do my part to make our country more powerful and beautiful.
I sincerely appeal to every student to spare no effort to realize the Chinese Dream. Only when we young generations strive will our nation thrive.
第二节 读后续写(满分25分)
One possible version:
Paragraph 1:“I wish I was your cat,” he said sadly. Ellen was confused by his words. “I just want the love you give him...” David said softly. Ellen then put her arms around the boy. “Oh, sweetie!” Ellen whispered and tears ran down her face as she rocked David in her arms. For the first time, there are motherhood feelings in her heart. When the woman from the orphanage arrived at Ellen’s house that evening, she found David and Ellen playing cards and eating cheese on the kitchen table. Ellen had thought David’s leaving would be a relief but once he was gone, the house felt strange and empty.
Paragraph 2: The next day, Ellen got into her car again and drove to the orphanage to ask about David. She was worried he might catch a cold and wondered if he’s alright. When she got there, the staff assured her that David was in perfect health. Since then, Ellen started visiting David nearly every day. Three months later she spoke to the director and asked about the possibility of adopting David. “It’s not an easy process,” the director warned. “But if you love this child, it is worth it!” The director was right. It wasn’t easy at all, but a year later, Ellen took David home. They became real mommy and son at last.

Text 1
W: Oh, no! It’s 6 o’clock already. I still haven’t finished the exercises.
M: Don’t worry. The clock is 30 minutes fast. You still have time to do them.
Text 2
W: I can’t make up my mind whether to ask Mike or John to help paint my house.
M: What difference does it make? Neither of them are excellent painters.
W: Oh, I thought of a person, my cousin. Peter is good at painting houses.
Text 3
M: I’d like to take those three out and return these two books.
W: Okay, but they are overdue. I’ll have to charge you for two days.
Text 4
M: I have to do extra work. Can you pick up our daughter from school?
W: I’m afraid I can’t. I’m on the way to the airport to pick up Dr. Bloom. Maybe Angela can help us with it.
Text 5
M: What about eating at the college dining room this evening?
W: I’d rather not. I didn’t really like the dishes we had there last night. There’s a Chinese restaurant about a ten-minute walk away. How about eating there?
M: Why not give it a try?
Text 6
M: Hi, Lisa. This is Eric. Could you check Grace’s schedule and see if she’s available for a one-hour meeting at 11 a.m. next Tuesday?
W: Let me check. Hmm... Grace will be attending a business party then. How about 9 a.m. next Wednesday?
M: I’ll be on a business trip from Wednesday to Friday next week. How about 4 p.m. next Monday?
W: She is available at 4 p.m. next Monday.
M: Great. Then I’ll send a meeting invitation to you and Grace.
W: OK. Bye.
Text 7
W: Mr. Lee, I was wondering if you and your wife had plans for next Friday night.
M: Hmm... I think we might be free. What do you have in mind?
W: I’ve mailed a formal written invitation to your home inviting you to a dinner party at my home.
M: That sounds great. Is it casual?
W: Actually, I thought it would be fun to have a formal sit-down dinner for the holidays.
M: Good. It will give my wife a chance to dress up.
W: Yes, I’ve also invited Mr. Cuthbert and four other couples, so it should be a good mix of people.
M: Wonderful. Will there be anyone else there that I know?
W: Oh yes, everyone in our company is invited.
M: Great! I’ll look forward to it. I’ll be sure to check the mail for the invitation.
Text 8
W: Good morning, sir. Welcome to the Bates Hotel. I’m always at your service.
M: Good morning, madam. I am here to attend an important conference. I want to stay here for two days. Are there any vacancies?
W: Wait a minute, let me see on the Internet. Oh you’re in luck. We have only one room available.
M: Is the hotel almost booked up?
W: Yes. There is an Artificial Intelligence conference in town.
M: What room is available?
W: We have a standard double room, with twin beds.
M: Is that a non-smoking room?
W: No, it’s a smoking room. Will that be alright?
M: No, I’m afraid I need a non-smoking room. I’m strongly against smoking.
W: I understand. Have a nice day.
Text 9
M: I’m very fond of outdoor sports.
W: Really? Me, too. I enjoy walking, bicycling, and running.
M: Er, Ada, what you like is not quite the same as what I like. I love rock climbing and parkour.
W: Don’t tell me you also like bungee jumping.
M: Oh, I nearly forgot to mention that. How do you know that?
W: Well, you and my brother have the same interests. Why do you both like extreme sports? Don’t you think they’re dangerous?
M: Yeah, they’re dangerous. But I think they offer a free lifestyle and they’re the expression of individuality.
W: My brother thinks they’re challenging and fun things to do, which make him have a happier and better life. Although I can’t understand the feeling, I know he’s living the life he wants.
M: Then how did he get into them?
W: My father loved them and my brother got into them under his influence.
M: I was also influenced to like them by my teacher. In my opinion, extreme sports are the integration of human and nature and can give full play to human potential.
W: What you said is beyond my understanding.
Text 10
W: Hello, everyone. I’m Lily. Today we’ll talk about the National Art Centre. It was planned in the 1960s, built in the 1970s, and eventually opened to the public in 1983. The centre is a huge complex that meets the demand for a great range of arts. Under a single roof it houses concert rooms, theaters, cinemas, art galleries and a public library, as well as three restaurants and a bookshop. If you are interested in classical music then you can go to the National Art Centre on either Monday or Tuesday evening at 7:30 for a dramatic production of The Magic Flute. It is in the Garden Hall, and tickets start at only eight pounds. For those more interested in cinema, you might like to see the Canadian film which is showing on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. in Cinema 2. It’s called Three Lives. The tickets cost just four pounds fifty. The Center’s main attraction is at the weekend, because on Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., they are showing a wonderful exhibition that hasn’t been seen anywhere else in Europe yet. It is a collection of Chinese art called “Faces of China”. It’s in Gallery 1. And the good news is that it is completely free, so don’t miss it.
