Show the pictures on PPT P6 and P7 to Ss. Ask them to guess why the boy or man is running. (Tip: Tell them that they can use modal verbs to make predictions.) | ||
Step 2 Presentation & Practice |

Pre-listening Show the second picture in 1a and ask Ss to think about the questions: 1. Why do you think the man is running? 2. What could be running after him? 1a In small groups of three or four, get Ss to discuss what they see in the pictures and explain why they think so. (Tip: T can consider discussing the pictures with the Ss first before asking them to attempt the activity: Picture a shows an UFO landing on the ground. Picture b shows an alien with three legs and antenna chasing after a man in a suit, his hat almost flying off. The last picture shows the same man running towards the corner of a building, and looking back over his shoulder as if looking out for something.) Suggested answers: a. A UFO is landing. b. An alien is running after the man. c. The man is looking back while running. Ask Ss if the three pictures were from the same story, which one might come first and why. 1b After playing the recording, ask Ss to write sentences for this activity. Answers: a. 2 b. 3 c. 1 Suggested answers: A woman is filming with a camera. They are making a movie. 1c Ask Ss how much they remember about who said what. Ask Ss to try filling in the blanks based on what they can remember before playing the recording again and getting them to fill in the blanks again. Check to see how much they did remember. Answers: Post-listening 1d In pairs, get Ss to write two conversations. The first should use only the information of what the man says, the second should use only the information of what the woman says, and vice versa. Ss should role-play their conversations once they finish writing. | ||

land与fall的区别是:land指有目的地、主观性地着陆、降落。land in“降落”,反义词是take off (起飞)。fall指从高处向低处自由降落,不带有主观性。 suit与fit的区别是:suit多指样式、花色合适或指合乎某种条件(强调主观);fit多指衣服的尺码、大小、形状合适(强调客观)。 |

They will improve their capacity of language organization to make inferences by using “could / might be doing”.Oral output is important. So we give them chance to say out more. When they are practicing the conversation, get them to make their own imagination and practice with their own words. | |
