This is why rganizatins like the Centers fr Disease Cntrl and Preventin (CDC) have suggested that we avid tuching ur faces. "Just stp this simple behavir," William Sawyer, funder f Henry the Hand, a nnprfit rganizatin that prmtes hand hygiene (卫生), tld The Washingtn Pst. "It's the ne behavir that wuld be better than any vaccine (疫苗) ever created."
Yet, stpping this "simple" behavir might be harder than yu think because it's already hardwired (固定存在于) int ur system.
Sme face tuching is an autmatic reflex (反射) —like when there is an itch (痒) n yur nse, yu'll scratch (挠) it withut thinking. Accrding t CNBC, a 2014 study fund that tuching yur face als helps t reduce stress and regulate emtins. Fr example, yu're mre likely t d it when yu feel awkward r embarrassed. Accrding t Dacher Keltner, a psychlgist at the University f Califrnia Berkeley, US, this actin may als cme with a scial functin: When yu are talking t smene and want t change the subject, fr example, tuching yur face is like "the curtains n a stage, clsing up ne act f the scial drama, ushering (引导) in the next," Keltner tld the BBC.
Mrever, face-tuching in almst all f these ccasins is subcnscius, which means it's very hard t change "because yu dn't even knw yu're ding it", said Sawyer. But yu're nt alne. In a 2015 study, where a grup f medical students were filmed in class, it was fund that they tuched their faces an average f 23 times an hur—with 44 percent f the tuches being in the "T-znes". That was particularly surprising since medical students were suppsed t knw better.
