    Unit 2 Spring is coming!第三课时

    Teaching Aim:

    1Knowledge aims:

    1. enable students to master new words and phraseswarm, hot, cool, cold, rich, go swimming
    2.  Students can understand the the content of lesson and use these sentences

    a. In March, April and May, it’s warm. We like to go out to play.

    b. Summer is hot, but we can go swimming.

    c. Autumn is cool but rich.

    d. Winter is cold. We can make snowmen.

    2Abilities aims:

    Develop the students abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. They can use these words and sentences to describe the weather of four seasons and what we can do in each season.

    3Emotion aims

       Get the students to appraise the beauty of the nature and evoke them to protect our environment.

     

    The important and difficult points

    1.use the words and phrases to describe four seasons ;

    2.talk about what they can do in each season

     

    Analysis of the students

      Students of Grade 5 are active and curious, interested in new things. After learning English for three years, they have basic English background knowledge, so the teacher should attach importance to the communication with them, providing them the chances of using language.

    3. TPR teaching method

     

    Teaching procedures

    Step 1: Warming up

    1.T: Good morning, everyone.    

    Ss: Good morning, Miss Wang.

    1. T: let’s sing an English song.

    3.T: What can you see in the picture? 

    S1: I can see the birds.

    S2: I can see some a green tree.

    S3: I can see beautiful flowers.

    4.T: Which season is it?

    SIt’s spring.

    T: Yes. Spring is coming.

    Step 2: Lead-in

    (Shows pictures about four seasons and fill in the blanks)

    T: What do you do in spring?

      What do you do in summer?

      What do you do in autumn?

      What do you do in winter?

    S1: I often go out to play.

    S2: I often go swimming.

    S3: I often have many fruits.

    S4: I often make snowmen.

    T: Today, let’s learn more about four seasons.

    Step 3: Presentation

    1. Listening and comprehension
    1. T: The first task, listen and number the picture.

    (Ss listen to the text and number the pictures by themselves)

       T: Let’s check the answer.

    S: 2,3, 1,4

    1. Scanning

    2.T: The second task, read and fill in the blanks

    (Ss read the text and fill in the blanks)

    T: The weather in spring is...

      Summer is ...

      Autumn is ....

      Winter is ....

    S1: warm

    S2: hot

    S3: cool

    S4: cold

    T: let’s sing a chant. Warm,warm,warm,spring is warm. ......(student sing together)

    1. Extensive reading

    3.T: The third task, read the text and answer questions.

    (Read the questions first,and then Ss work in groups and write down the answers)

    ① What are the four seasons?

    ② Why do people like to go out to play?

    ③ What can we do in summer?

      Why is autumn rich?

      When can we make snowmen?

    T: Let’s check the answers.

    S1: They are spring, summer,autumn and winter.

    S2: Because spring is warm and the trees are green.

    S3: We can go swimming and eat ice-creams.

    S4: Because we have many fruits.

    S5: We can make snowmen in winter.

    D.Consolidation

    1. T: Now, please read after me.

    2.T: practice in groups, and try to retell the text according to the chat.

    (Ss try to remember the sentences together, five students retell the text one by one)

    Step4. Pactice Activities

    T: My favorite season is spring. Because it is warm and I can wear beautiful dresses.

    And I can fly kites with my friends. How happy we will be!

    What’s your favorite season? Please write a composition about your favorite season.

    (T give them a sample, and Ss write a text about their favorite season.)

    T: Please show your writings to us!

    Step 5. Summary

    T: What kind of new words have you learned today?  How about sentences?

    S1: Spring is warm.

    S2: Summer is hot and we can go swimming.

    S3: Autumn is cool but rich.   S4:...

    T: Yes, you are all excellent! I’m proud of you! We learn not only some new words, phrases and sentences but also how to describe four seasons and enjoy our beautiful nature.

    Step 6. Homework

    1. Read the text again and review the key words and phrases.
    2. Try to share your writings with your parents or friends.

     

    T: That’s all about this class. See you tomorrow.

    Ss: See you, Miss Wang.

    Teaching reflection

    During my prepared, I prepared a lot of pictures to realize the revision and teaching of the new words. I found that they were quite attractive when students saw them during the teaching. To some extent, the use of the pictures of seasons could cultivate students interest to use the adjectives or phrases to describe four seasons and talk what can we do in each season.

    In this English class, all of the students were hard-working. It seemed that they had grasped all the knowledge effectively in this period. However, I found some problems. I need to speak more slowly and clearly, giving them more them to think and speak. I felt it a pity that I didnt give the students time to present their papers and correct their papers and correct their mistakes, which I should keep in mind for future teaching.

    I was not satisfied with the writing part. Although students had time to write their compositions, they didnt have the opportunities to know how well they had written. They should get some comments on their comments on their composition for instance, grammar, sentence, structure, hand-writing and so on.

    All in all,on the one hand, this was a comparatively successful class. On the other hand, I found some unsatisfactory elements in my teaching. I think it would be better for me to improve the teaching procedure for future use. In addition, the classed should be practical and adhere to the students ability. I learned a lot from my experience. In order to realize the new concept of teaching. I think I need do more research on the textbook and learn more from others.
