Jane Eyre　　 Reunion

Rochester：Who is there? Mrs.Faifax，is that you? Is anyone there? (To his dog.) There，boy.Ah！There's no one there.Whom did you think it was? Mm? Is anyone there，I say? Who is it? (Jane approaches.)

Jane：It is me.

Rochester：Jane?

Jane：Yes.

Rochester：Jane!

Jane：Yes！Yes!

Rochester：You mock me.(Jane kneels down，and takes his hand to touch her face.) Is that you，Jane? Is it really you? Have you come to visit me? You didn't think to find me like this，mm? What? Crying? No need for tears.How long can you stay? An hour or two? Stay a little while.Or do you have some fretting husband waiting for you?

Jane：No.

Rochester：No husband yet? Well，that's bad，Jane.You're not pretty，you know，you can't be choosy.

Jane：No，Sir.

Rochester：Still，I'm surprised you have not been asked.

Jane：I didn't say I had not been asked，Sir.

Rochester：I see.Yes.That's good，Jane.You should be married.

Jane：Yes，Sir.I think so，and so should you.You can't be choosy，Sir，any more than I.

Rochester：No，perhaps not.Well，when is this wedding of yours? I'll bring Adele home from school.

Jane：Wedding，Sir?

Rochester：The devil takes it.Didn't you say you were getting married?

Jane：No，Sir.

Rochester：Well，I'm sure some fool will find you soon enough.

Jane：I hope so，Sir.Some fool that found me once before.(Touches his face with her hand.) I've come home，Edward.Let me stay.(Sits by his side and lays her head on his shoulders.)

罗：谁在那儿？费尔法克丝太太，是你吗？那儿有人吗？(对着他的狗说。)噢，好了，那儿没人，你怎么当有人呢？嗯？我说，那儿有人吗？是谁？(简走近。)

简：是我。

罗：简？

简：是我。

罗：简！

简：是我，是我！

罗：笑话我吧。(简跪下，将罗的手放在自己的脸上。)是你吗，简？真是你吗？你是来看我的？没想到我会这样吧，嗯？怎么？哭了？不用掉眼泪。你能待多久？一两个小时？还是只待一会儿，或是你有性急的丈夫在等你？

简：没有什么丈夫。

罗：还没有丈夫？那可不好，简。你长得不漂亮，你不能太挑剔了。

简：是的，先生。

罗：我觉得奇怪了，怎么没人向你求婚？

简：我并没有说过没人向我求婚，先生。

罗：明白了。那好，简，你应该结婚。

简：是的，先生，我也这样认为。而且，你也应该结婚。你不能比我还挑剔。

罗：是的，或许是的。好吧，你的婚礼何时举行？我把阿玳尔从学校接回来。

简：什么婚礼，先生？

罗：见鬼，你不是说你要结婚了吗？

简：没有呀，先生。

罗：那么，我肯定会有个傻瓜很快找到你的。

简：我也希望如此，先生。有个傻瓜早已找过我了。(用手抚摸罗的脸。)我回家了，爱德华，让我留下来吧。(坐在罗的身边，头靠在罗的肩上。)
