As I lk up at the hundreds f firewrks in the sky, I hear the bells ringing in a small temple signifying the cming f the Chinese New Year. Thugh I may nt believe in r understand many f the New Year traditins here, the similarities between the cming f this New Year and the beginning f my new life in China are nt lst n me.
My first few days in China were a culture shck t say the least. Having arrived late in the semester, I immediately had t begin my beginners’ Chinese classes, alng with the newest class f verseas students. Being surrunded by a language that is nt yur wn is unbelievably frustrating and islating. Due t the picture-based fashin f Chinese writing, it’s nt like yu can have a guess, r wrk it ut thrugh whatever little knwledge yu have f ther Latin-riginated languages. If yu dn’t knw what it says, then that’s it. Hwever, with time passing, I have fund myself prgressing, thugh painfully slwly. The first time I direct a taxi by myself, the driver actually understands where I want t g, which is hugely rewarding. Still, it is never lng until my sheer lack f language skill is expsed (暴露)and I cme crashing back t earth, usually immediately upn leaving the taxi.
Gaining a language is a hugely valuable skill. Hwever, it is nt the nly thing I will gain in China. After this year f learning Chinese, I aim t gain my Master’s degree here at UJN. Opprtunities d just pp up rather ccasinally: frm being ffered jbs teaching English, t being asked t appear n game-shws fr Shandng TV. S, fr nw, I am just lking frward t expanding my cultural hrizns and enjying my time here. Everything takes sme time getting used t, but that’s part f the adventure and, mst f all, the enjyment. Bad news sells. If it bleeds, it leads. N news is gd news, and gd news is n news. Thse are the classic rules fr the evening bradcasts and the mrning papers. But nw that infrmatin is being spread and mnitred (监控) in different ways, researchers are discvering new rules. By tracking peple’s e-mails and nline psts, scientists have fund that gd news can spread faster and farther than disasters and sb stries.

Researchers analyzing wrd-f-muth cmmunicatin—e-mails, Web psts and reviews, face-t-face cnversatins—fund that it tended t be mre psitive than negative, but that didn’t necessarily mean peple preferred psitive news. Was psitive news shared mre ften simply because peple experienced mre gd things than bad things? T test fr that pssibility, Dr.Berger lked at hw peple spread a particular set f news stries: thusands f articles n The New Yrk Times’ website. He and a Penn clleague analyzed the “mst e-mailed” list fr six mnths. One f his first findings was that articles in the science sectin were much mre likely t make the list than nn-science articles. He fund that science amazed Times’ readers and made them want t share this psitive feeling with thers.
Readers als tended t share articles that were exciting r funny, r that inspired negative feelings like anger r anxiety, but nt articles that left them merely sad. They needed t be arused ne way r the ther, and they preferred gd news t bad. The mre psitive an article, the mre likely it was t be shared, as Dr. Berger explains in his new bk, “Cntagius: Why Things Catch On.”

    A.Sprts news. B.Science articles. C.Persnal accunts. D.Financial reviews.
35.What can be a suitable title fr the text?
A.Sad Stries Travel Far and Wide B.Online News Attracts Mre Peple
