    There are three main climate znes n the earth. They are the trpical, temperate, and plar climate znes.
    • Arund fur millin peple live in the Arctic regin, f whm arund 170,000 are Inuit.• In the Arctic, the temperature can reach as lw as -70℃. • The Arctic includes parts f eight cuntries: Canada, Russia, the United States, Denmark, Nrway, Iceland, Sweden and Finland.

    Marly: My name’s Marly. I’m frm an Inuit village in the far nrth f Canada. Our lives are clsely cnnected t the natural wrld f the Arctic.
    Althugh we live in regular huses, we stay in temprary shelters called “igls” when we g hunting. Igls are made f snw r ice. On the ne hand, they’re quite warm inside and the building materials can be fund everywhere. But n the ther, they can nly be kept fr arund 50 days.
    We get ur fd frm the nearby sea. Eating a lt f fish and meat keeps ur bdies strng s that we can fight the cld. But the dwnside is that the cld weather makes it difficult fr us t grw enugh vegetables and fruit.
    It’s cmpletely dark here fr three mnths f the year, which is a perid called “plar night”. S, life can smetimes be bring! But the gd thing is, during that time the elders tell us stries abut ur peple. It gives us mre time t be with ur family and friends.
    Nwadays, ships bring turists t the Arctic. The advantage t this is that it brings mre mney and jb pprtunities, but the disadvantage is that ur envirnment is being plluted.
    One thing is fr sure, thugh: n matter hw things change, ur traditins will remain an imprtant part f ur lives.

    Disadvantages f living in the Arctic:• It gets very cld and is dark during much f the year.• Fruit and vegetables dn’t grw naturally.• Life can smetimes be bring and dull.

    Student A: I live in the trpics. On the ne hand, it’s usually warm all year rund. But n the ther, it can smetimes get t ht t g utside, and even dangerus when the trpical strms hit, which can bring strng winds and heavy rain. Student B: But It’s easy t grw fd. Trpical fruit and vegetables are delicius.
    Student A: Yes. Anther gd aspect is that the jungles are full f beautiful plants and animals. I heard yu came frm the Arctic. The Nrthern Lights are amazing, right? I’ve seen it frm the pictures.
    Student B: Abslutely! The best time t see the Nrthern Lights is frm August t April the next year, when it gets cld. But yu knw, this can be a bad thing. It’s very cld and dark during much f the year. Fruit and vegetables dn’t grw naturally. Anther negative aspect is that life can smetimes be bring and dull.
    Student A: But the upside t this is that yu have the natural refrigeratr. Fd can be preserved fr a lng time. Yu knw fd can g bad quickly in the trpics.Student B: Yes. Best f all, it’s nt t crwded in the Arctic. I enjy peaceful life.
    Student A: Every cin has tw sides. There are prs and cns t ur life in the Arctic and the trpics. Student B: I can’t agree mre.

    Student A: Living in nrthern China, smetimes I really want t experience life in suthern China, especially in winter, when it’s freezing cld and dry in ur city.Student B: Actually, this can be a gd thing. We enjy all srts f winter activities, such as ging skating, playing in the snw and s n.
    Student A: It is said that peple can usually swim utdr in winter in suthern China. Hw exciting!Student B: But smetimes, it can get t ht in summer, and it rains a lt. We knw that due t the gegraphical lcatin and climate type, the main crp in suthern China is rice. Peple there live n rice. Believe it r nt, it will take yu sme time t get used t the fd in suthern China if yu g there.
    Student A: Yes. It’s quite different frm us. Mst f ur nrthern Chinese prefer fd made f flur.Student B: Even the Chinese New Year celebratin varies in suthern and nrthern China. The New Year fd, decratins as well as activities are all different.
