    Peple in San Francisc were given the pprtunity t vice their pinin n Prpsitin E, which suggested a sda tax (税). The tax, which needed t pass with a tw­thirds majrity, wuld have prvided mney fr health and physical educatin prgrams, and the hpe was that it wuld als discurage citizens frm buying unhealthy drinks. Althugh San Francisc's Prpsitin E failed t be passed, Berkeley citizens succeeded in passing the natin's first ever sugary drink tax n their similar Measure D.
    Peple wh were fr the tax hped that the price f sugary drinks wuld discurage peple frm buying them. Mexic recently intrduced a tax n drinks, which, thugh nt well received by the public, was successful in reducing the amunt f sda bught. After the tax was put int effect, Mexic's biggest sda prductin cmpany's sales drpped by 6.4%.
