“The added difficulty with a prject like this is that actually nne f its cmpnents is ff the shelf and we have t develp them all n ur wn,” said Rbert Wd, a Harvard engineering prfessr.
They engineered a series f systems t start and drive the rbtic fly. “The seemingly simple system which just mves the wings has lts f interdependence(互相依赖) f the individual cmpnents, each f which individually has t perfrm well, but then has t be matched well t everything it’s cnnected t,” said Wd.
While this first rbtic flyer is linked t a small, ffbard pwer surce, the gal is eventually t equip it with a builtin pwer surce, s that it might smeday perfrm datagathering wrk at rescue sites, in farmers’ fields r n the battlefield. “Basically it shuld be able t take ff, land and fly arund,” he said.
Wd says the design ffers a new way t study flight mechanics and cntrl at insectscale. Yet, the pwer, sensing and cmputatin technlgies n bard culd have much brader applicatins. “Yu can start thinking abut using them t answer pen scientific questins, yu knw, t study bilgy in ways that wuld be difficult with the animals, but using these rbts instead,” he said. “S there are a lt f technlgies and pen interesting scientific questins that are really what drives us n a daytday basis.”
1.What is the typical characteristic f the rbtic fly?
A.It’s autmatic.
B.It’s very small.
C.It’s cntrllable.
D.It’s quite pwerful.
根据第一段第二、三句“Designed t d what a fly des naturally, the tiny machine is the size f a fat husefly. Its mini wings allw it t stay in the air and perfrm cntrlled flight tasks.”

C.fly at a very high speed
D.answer many scientific questins
根据第四段第一句中的“s that it might smeday perfrm datagathering wrk at rescue sites, in farmers’ fields r n the battlefield”可知,某一天这种飞行器可能用于执行搜救点、农田、战场的数据收集任务;据此可推知,该飞行器可以用作间谍飞机,故A项正确。
3.What is Wd’s idea abut the rbtic fly accrding t the last paragraph?
A.It is highly questinable.
B.It has wide practical applicatins.
C.It gives scientists interest in flying machines.
D.It pints t a new directin in studying bilgy.
根据尾段第二句“Yet,the have much brader applicatins.”
4.What can be the best title fr the passage?

Rawat prvides infrmatin abut cancer cells t a cmputer. He says, “Yu can put the data int them and they will learn the patterns and the pattern recgnitin that’s imprtant fr making decisins.”
David Agus is anther researcher. He believes that machines are nt ging t take the place f dctrs. “Cmputers will nt treat patients, but they will help make certain decisins and lk fr things that the human brain can’t recgnize by itself.”
Once a cnfirmed cancerus grwth is remved, dctrs still have t treat the patient t reduce the risk f cancer returning. The frm f treatment depends n the kind f cancer. Nwadays, researchers take a thin piece f tissue(组织), put it n a small piece f glass and add clr t see the cells better. That prcess culd take days r even lnger. Scientists say artificial intelligence can d smething better than just cunt cells. Thrugh machine learning, it can recgnize cmplex patterns r structures, and learn hw the cells are rganized.
The hpe is that machines will sn be able t make a quick identificatin f cancer that is free f human mistakes. Agus says the prcess culd be dne fr almst n cst in the develping wrld and that having a large amunt f infrmatin abut patients is imprtant fr a machine t effectively d its jb in medicine.
