  Having learned from the newspaper that the English summer camp will be launched in our city on  20th July, I cannot wait to register/sign up for one of your clubs.

Of the clubs you have provided, one in particular has aroused my attention- Sports Club. To begin with, within the three weeks in the camp, I can totally devote myself to my favorite sports and improve my basketball skills. In addition, It is wonderful for me to be with many students sharing the similar interest. Our cooperation in sports and practice in spoken English together will benefit me a lot. Of course, I hold the belief that I can be stronger and healthier after three-weeks’ sports activities. Meanwhile, under the guidance of the teachers in the camp, my English can get into a higher level, which will make me more confident in the college study soon.

 M: Why?

 W: ⑾ I read a paper in a medical magazine yesterday. It was about the findings of a study on brain damage of football players.

 W: Well, the researchers scanned the  brains some retired football players and also gave them some tests. Their findings show that the retired football players didn’t have  serious brain damage at all.

 W: Yes. And I think you should let your son do what he really loves.

 M: I'm very pleased to have Lily Alonso with me, and I’ll be asking her about how she prepares for a concert. Lily, do you have any way of making yourself feel relaxed before a concert?

 W: In my early days I was in a band and we were always telling each other jokes and  having a good laugh. ⒀But now I spend a few minutes taking calm, slow breaths.

 M: And on the day of the show, do you practice everything on the stage first?

 W: ⒁I always go there but just to get the feel of moving around it, making a mental note of how many steps I can take in any direction. I want songs to sound fresh when l do them, but they won't be fresh to you if you've been singing them all day.

 M: What do you do after that?

 W: I often go and take a seat in one of the front rows. ⒂I try to imagine myself up there later on, giving a really great performance, fans clapping and cheering, things like that. Whether or not that actually happens it certainly makes me feel I can do it, and that's the important thing. Then I go back to my dressing room, which is usually nice and quiet, and get  ready.

 M: And one final question, what do you drink before you perform?

 W: Well, coffee is not good for your voice because it dries out your mouth and throat.  Tea and cola are also best avoided. ⒃ But your throat can be cleared by having a glass of freshly- squeezed lemon or orange.
