    2. Nt nly… but als…意为 “不但…而且…”遵循一下三个原则


    (a)并列连词,连接两个并列成分,其中als可以省略。

    情态动词表推测


    情态动词中的must, can, culd, may, might都可表推测。其中must的可能性最大,can/culd次之,may/might最小。


    must的用法:


    (1)表示推测“可能性”时,意思是“一定、准是”,语气较肯定,较有把握。如:


    He must be an American.=It is certain that he is an American.


    他准是个美国人。


    (2)must表推测只能用于肯定句。如果要表示“一定不、肯定不”的意思时,应用can't。如:


    He must knw my address.


    他肯定知道我的地址。(一定)


    He can't knw my address.


    他肯定不知道我的地址。(一定不)


    (3)must表示推测时,可以推测正在发生的动作或过去发生的动作。如:

    can的用法:


    can (culd) :can可能 can’t不可能 表示推测(惊讶、怀疑、不相信的态度),用于疑问句、否定句和感叹句中。

    may的用法:


    表示推测、可能性(不用于疑问句)。


    might不是过去式,它所表示的可能性比may小。

    must & can’t


    两者都表示推测,can’t意为“不可能”,must意为“一定”;句中一般会有说明推测理由的附 属从句。例如:

    But Abigail thinks students need lts f mney because things there are quite expensive. Smetimes students may nt be used t their way f living and they can’t get n well with freigners.


    In my pinin, everything has tw sides. On the ne hand, students can exchange cultures with freigners. On the ther hand, they may feel lnely and hmesick.
