ORDINAL DISCOVERY
Ordinal Numbers: 1st – 10th
Ntice: 1st, 2nd, 3rd are special! 5th, 8th, 9th are different t!
RULE 2 — SPECIAL CHANGES
Rule 2: Watch ut fr these special changes!
five → fif + th
★ ve → f + th
★ nly add -h
nine → nin + th
★ drp -e + th
twelve → twelf + th
These 4 rdinals have spelling changes — memrize them!
RULE 3 — TENS
Rule 3: Fr tens (20, 30, 40, 50), change -y t -i + -eth
twenty → twenti + eth
thirty → thirti + eth
frty → frti + eth
fifty → fifti + eth
Pattern: -y → -i + -eth (twenty → twenti + eth → twentieth)
Als: 60th sixtieth, 70th seventieth, 80th eightieth, 90th ninetieth
RULE 1 — BASIC
Rule 1: 1st, 2nd, 3rd are special; 4th–10th add -th
Special! Dn't add -th
secnd / third
4th → 10th: just add -th
4th furth 6th sixth 7th seventh 10th tenth
fur + th → furth six + th → sixth seven + th → seventh
Remember: 1st→first, 2nd→secnd, 3rd→third are irregular. The rest just add -th!
RULE 4 — COMBINATION
Rule 4: Fr 21+, 22+, 23+ — nly change the nes digit!

21st = twenty + first 22nd = twenty + secnd 23rd = twenty + third
