窗体顶端广东东莞市 2025-2026学年第二学期教学质量自查高二英语试卷 第一部分 阅读理解 A About a year ago, I was an art therapist (治疗师). I asked my 12-year-old client to create a self-portrait, a painting of oneself, to help with her anxiety. Then I realized I hadn’t made one since primary school, so I decided to make one myself. I took a picture of myself, then started painting layer by layer. Painting a person is challenging because faces have complex shadows and highlights. I worked day after day — too dark, too light, too dark again. One night, I looked at my painting and thought, “Have I gone too far This painting is getting overworked.” Then it hit me — that word exactly described me. Working three jobs and always doing too much, I was “overworked Michelle”. My painting had reflected my real life. So I bought a new blank canvas and asked myself, “Who would I be if I wasn’t overworked Michelle ” I challenged myself to paint the Michelle I wanted to be. To avoid overworking again, I limited my work to two sittings. Without using any photo as a reference, I was free to create the face and colors however I wanted. Later, a dream about a mountain lion inspired me. When a hole appeared in my painting, I added a mountain lion cut from a magazine — my first collage (拼贴画). I found complete freedom. All rules went out the window. I could be whoever I wanted. Art reminds us that we are creators. By painting the person I wanted to become, my life followed. I am no longer “overworked Michelle”. Now I have one job, and it is my passion — to share my heart with others and practice weakness and openness. I take care of myself first every day. I don’t feel overworked, because I love what I do. 1. What did the author realize when her painting looked “overworked” A. Too many colors were used. B. She pushed herself too hard. C. Painting was too difficult. D. More canvases were needed. 2. How did the author create her second self-portrait A. By referring to a photo. B. By copying an art magazine. C. By following traditional rules. D. By creating freely with less time. 3. What does the author’s experience show A. Creating self-portrait is necessary. B. Art helps reveal our true selves. C. Dreams can solve our problems. D. Overworking life can be fruitful. B A reliable way to lock down names is with the Mental Snapshot Method. That’s what Charles uses onstage when he meets a number of people and has to keep their names straight. Here’s the drill: Consciously tune in when the other person introduces themselves, and “treat the name like an important piece of information so you capture it in your short-term memory,” he says. Next, create a mental image when you hear the name. “If you hear Mike, imagine a microphone,” he says. “Your brain remembers images better than words.” There’s a cool brain-science reason why this strategy works. A famous psychologist, Hafeez, explains, “Basically speaking, your brain is wired to remember stories and pictures.” Therefore, by attaching the name to an object (like a red-bellied bird for Robin), you’re working with your brain instead of against it. What if the name doesn’t picture an object Link the new name to a famous person or character, as Hafeez does. Meet a Leo Picture Leonardo da Vinci. To remember a name in a way that really burns it into your brain, repeat the name right after the other person says it. Say you meet a Jim. You’d go, “So great to meet you, Jim!” “Repeating a name out loud activates your brain, which adds a physical layer to the memory and makes it stick longer,” Hafeez says. The more you use these techniques, the better they’ll work. As a performer and mentalist, Charles has to remember many names in front of big audiences, and he insists this is not so much a talent as a skill. “If you want it to be a talent, you have to practice it until it becomes an unconscious behavior,” he says. At the same time, you’re only human. If a name happens to slip your mind, own it and just say, “I’m sorry, say your name one more time ” It may feel awkward, but it’s no big deal, especially if the other has also forgotten your name. 4. What does the Mental Snapshot Method advise you to do with a new name A. Store it as a word. B. Turn it into an image. C. Repeat it many times. D. Write it down at once. 5. Why does repeating a new name out loud help you remember it A. It turns the name into a mental picture. B. It connects the name to a famous person. C. It involves an action to strengthen recall. D. It helps to connect the name to a familiar story. 6. What does the underlined phrase “own it” in the last paragraph probably mean A. Admit it honestly. B. Repeat it loudly. C. Possess it secretly. D. Forget it completely. C Health-centered AI may be a good option for those anxious about healthcare expenses because it has the potential to reduce costs through early diagnoses, according to Harvard’s School of Public Health. While the majority of people surveyed by KFF said they turned to AI because it provided quick, immediate answers, about a fifth reported not having access to a doctor or being unable to afford an appointment. Health-trained chatbots could help patients better understand their bodies and provide helpful insights before they pay a visit to their doctor, according to companies like Amazon, which recently launched its Amazon Health AI. Carri Chan is a professor at Columbia Business School, who mainly leads Columbia’s AI+ Healthcare program. Chan does not agree that patients should use AI instead of real doctors. But she thinks useful AI tools — like well-trained chatbots — can lower medical costs and make it easier for people to get medical care. “Thank goodness tech companies are making and training AI models just for health care,” Chan says. “That’s what we really need. We don’t want AI trained on all Internet information. There is too much false and useless information online.” In short, AI needs high-quality and tested medical data. While people have many doubts about AI in health care, experts including Dr. Robert Wachter from the University of California, are optimistic about health AI. They believe AI tools like ChatGPT Health work much better than Google searches for checking symptoms and understanding medical terms. Dr. Wachter also says these AI chatbots will become more accurate as technology improves. Still, Dr. Wachter reminds people of AI’s imperfections. It can give correct and professional advice, but also misleading wrong answers. Therefore, users should describe their problems clearly when using AI, double-check its answers, and consult real doctors for final decisions. For serious emergencies such as severe chest pain, people must go to hospital directly instead of relying on AI. 7. What attracts people to health-centered AI A. Long-term health care. B. Precise medical diagnoses. C. Instant and affordable treatment. D. Effective physical examinations. 8. What can we learn from Carri Chan’s words A. Internet data suits health AI. B. Real doctors will be replaced. C. Health AI needs specialized data. D. AI Chatbots outperform human experts. 9. What is Dr. Robert Wachter’s attitude towards health AI A. Objective. B. Opposed. C. Doubtful. D. Unconcerned. 10. What is the best title of the passage A. Health AI: A Risky Option for Doctors B. Health AI: A Useful Helper at Low Costs C. Health AI: A Perfect Answer to All Worries D. Health AI: A Promising Tool with Real Limits D Being more environmentally responsible doesn’t have to be hard. In fact, there are a bunch of simple ways to do a little better for the planet — and we’re making it even easier for you by listing some of them right here. These small actions don’t require a lifestyle transformation. ___11___ You can easily fit them into your day, whether that’s Earth Day or any other day of the year. Walk or bike short distances. Better yet, it’s usually faster than dealing with parking. Collect trash when you see it. ___13___ While one piece might not feel like much, if more people collected trash regularly, it would make a visible difference in public spaces and waterways. ___14___ This Earth-saving technique saves paper obviously, but it also reduces the energy and water used in paper production. According to a Green America report, receipts in the United States consume more than 3 million trees and roughly 9 billion gallons of water every year. It’s an easy choice that adds up across millions of people. Bring a reusable bag, and actually remember to use it. Plastic bags are used for minutes and then thrown away. However, they can stick around in the environment for hundreds of years. And with billions used annually, this is one of those “small habit, huge scale” situations. ___15___ A. Choose digital tickets and receipts. B. This takes only a few minutes to do. C. They really make a big difference, though. D. Avoid printing unnecessary paper documents in life. E. She had just transferred to our sixth-grade class. Having left her old school and friends behind, she often sat alone quietly and avoided joining group activities. She struggled with her studies and fitting into the new environment. As her teacher, I could clearly sense her loneliness and unease, which worried me deeply. Each fall, my teaching partner and I took our students to Wolf Ridge, a five-day environmental education center by Lake Superior. The trip focused on personal growth, teamwork and overcoming fears. The golden autumn leaves there were just like the transformation we expected our students to achieve. The most challenging activity was the High Adventure Ropes Course, 40 feet above the ground among tall trees, which consisted of three challenge towers. I knew this challenge would terrify timid Chelsea. Wearing the safety belt, she felt her heart racing fast, and her face turned pale with fear. Luckily, supported by my partner, she managed to cross the first two towers. But when she looked ahead and saw the last challenge, the Single Wire leading to the final tower, she suddenly froze. Tears filled her eyes as she shook her head helplessly. I carefully walked onto the wire from the other side and spoke to her in a calm voice. Meanwhile, her classmates gathered below, calling her name again and again. Chelsea tightly gripped the safety rope. With tears running down her face, she slowly lifted one foot, trying to take the next step, but suddenly stopped in the middle of the wire. Her whole body was trembling violently. For a moment, the woods became completely silent except for the sound of the wind. Taking a deep breath, Chelsea finally moved one foot forward. _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ From that day on, something in Chelsea seemed to change. _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ 参考答案 一、阅读理解 1.B 2.D 3.B 4.B 5.C 6.A 7.C 8.C 9.A 10.D 11.C 12.E 13.B 14.A 15.F 二、完形填空 16.A 17.B 18.C 19.A 20.D 21.C 22.B 23.C 24.D 25.A 26.B 27.B 28.D 29.A 30.D 三、语法填空 31.where 32.starvation 33.opponents 34.it 35.was restored 36.on 37.Fortunately 38.to calculate 39.an 40.Located 四、完成句子 41. turned out 42. are fond of 43. if/whether she could 44. Encouraged by my gentle words and classmates’ warm cheers, she plucked up all her courage to keep going. Step by step, she overcame her inner fear and eventually reached the end safely. The moment she landed on the ground, bursts of applause broke out. A bright smile appeared on her tearful face, shining with pride and relief. From that day on, something in Chelsea seemed to change. She became much more confident and outgoing. She no longer sat alone in silence but actively took part in class discussions and group activities. She was willing to make friends with classmates and turned to others for help when meeting difficulties. Gradually, she adapted to the new school life and made steady progress in her studies. The challenging rope course helped her realize that bravery lies in overcoming fear, which became a precious life lesson for her.
